The woefully misunderstood sport of Greco-Roman wrestling looks set to be the most undersubscribed event at the Sydney Olympic Games. Maybe the Games organisers should consider staging the hugely popular, totally choreographed World Wrestling Federation variety instead.
I've only the barest understanding of the nuances of WWF, but if you're a follower, Wrestlemania 2000 gives you more than 50 of the WWF stars to wrestle with and against, including Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H and the masked Mankind. Wrestlemania 2000 also features the best create-your-own-wrestler option ever. You can customise up to 16 fighters in appearance, fighting style, moves and even entrance music.
There are three difficulty settings and many options for game styles, including Royal Rumble (an all-out brawl), 3-Way, Tag Team and Cage. There are also many options when it comes to moves, and this pushes Wrestlemania 2000 above other competing wrestling games, which have always lacked variety.
The Nintendo 64 has always fared well with wrestling games and developer THQ has now given us the best yet. The strong gameplay will even appeal to non-wrestling fans and with up to four people able to fight simultaneously it's sure to be a popular party game.
Endgame: The Lord of the wrestling rings.
