Abstract: Systems and methods for creating and presenting interactive product review interfaces are presented. The system processes a purchase request for a product from a user. The system then identifies one or more user feedback questions for the product. For each particular user feedback question, the system generates user feedback graphics based on stored user feedback associated with the particular user feedback question. The system transmits the one or more selected user feedback questions and the generated user feedback graphics to a client system associated with the user for display. The system receives user feedback for a user feedback question in the selected one or more user feedback questions. The system updates the user feedback graphic associated with the question to include the received user feedback. The system transmits the updated user feedback graphic to the client system for display in real-time.

Abstract: In various exemplary embodiments, a system and an associated method for presenting a commerce application to an electronic device of an end-user. The method includes establishing electronic communications from the end-user to a first server (e.g., an electronic marketplace) in response to the end-user accessing a widget presented by the first server, and establishing electronic communications between the first server and a second server. The second server may be another electronic marketplace. The first server sends a chrome to the end-user. Substantially concurrent with the first server sending a chrome, the second server transmits electronically an Iframe to be placed within the chrome on a browser on an electronic device of the end-user. The blending of the chrome and the Iframe is transparent to the end user; thus, the end-user may be unaware that additional information (e.g., in terms of the Iframe and any accompanying metadata) is being received from the second server.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for digital lists of items are presented. An authentication interface module authenticates a first user device to authorize access to listing services of a web resource of a registered vendor. The web resource can generate an add-item request in response to user input from authorized user devices. The add-item request is linked to a first item of a vendor-item list. A list management module updates a selected-item list to include the first item of the vendor-item list and a notification attribute. A notification management module detects a notification event of the first item based on the notification attribute. In response to a detection of a notification event of the first item, the notification management module provides a notification message to one or more user devices linked to the first user account.

Abstract: Systems and methods to provide a prioritized shopping system are discussed. For example, a method can include receiving a list of target items, receiving busyness data for a plurality of local merchants, developing a prioritized shopping plan, and communicating the prioritized shopping plan to a mobile device. Each target item in the list of target items can represents a product or service that a user has indicated an interest in purchasing. The prioritized shopping plan is based at least in part on the busyness data and the list of target items. Busyness data provides an indication of traffic levels within at least a portion of the plurality of local merchants.

Abstract: Example methods and systems are directed to a managed inventory. A database may store information regarding items owned by a user. The information regarding an item may include a quantity owned and one or more triggering events. Based on the occurrence of a triggering event, an order for the item may be placed without user intervention. Data to the database may be provided by one or more sensors. Triggering events may be defined in terms of sensor data. The triggering event may be defined by a user or through machine learning. The order may be placed using a predetermined modality or a dynamically-determined modality based on one or more criteria, such as price, shipping speed, and the urgency of the order.

Abstract: A current screen is presented on a display of a user device, which includes an element distinct from a previous element of a previous screen, where the previous element occupied less than an entirety of the previous screen. The user device receives a gesture input that requests that the previous element be presented within the current screen next to a current element of the current screen. The gesture input indicates a location of the current element, wherein the location of the current element is less than an entirety of the current screen and is the same location at which the previous element was presented on the previous screen. The user device presents, on the display of the user device and responsive to receiving the gesture input, a contemporaneous view of the previous element next to the current element at the location of the current element within the current screen.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for simulating touch in a virtual environment is disclosed. In one example embodiment, a system includes one or more circuits configured to receive an indicator of a sensed touch in a virtual environment and to determine, based on the indicator, an area of the sensed touch. The one or more circuits are further configured to generate a simulated touch by applying a field to one or more touch simulators, the field actuating the one or more touch simulators by linearly displacing an element of the one or more touch simulators.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system and method is illustrated including receiving a feedback request identifying a particular user, retrieving a feedback entry in response to the feedback request, the feedback entry containing a first term, building a scoring model based, in part, upon a term frequency count denoting a frequency with which the first term appears in a searchable data structure, mapping the first term to a graphical illustration based upon a second term associated with the graphical illustration such that the graphical illustration may be used to represent the second term, and generating a feedback page containing the first term and the graphical illustration. The method may include assigning a value to the first term so as to identify the first term, assigning the first term to the searchable data structure, and extracting the first term from the searchable data structure based, in part, upon an extraction rule.

Abstract: In an example embodiment, a distributed storage system includes a service tier including a service node to receive a request for a logical object comprising binary data and metadata describing the binary data, and a storage tier including a plurality of storage nodes, wherein one or more of the storage nodes is to store the metadata describing the binary data. The distributed storage system also includes a coordination tier to store mapping information identifying the one or more of the storage nodes storing the metadata. The service node is also to receive the mapping information from the coordination tier, to access the metadata describing the binary data from one of the one or more of the storage nodes based on the mapping information, and to return the metadata describing the binary data in a response to the request.

Abstract: An indication of a touch on a touch-enabled screen of a device is received that indicates a selection of a date facet in a listing of items. The date facet denotes a temporal indicator, other facets denote non-temporal indicators. An indication of a pinch gesture is received. The date facet is scaled to produce a scaled-facet listing. The scaling includes modifying a degree of a characteristic of the date facet in an increasing amount including producing a scaled-out listing implemented as an updated portion of item data having a different temporal indicator than an initial display of the item data by an amount proportional to a magnitude of a pinch gesture characteristic of the pinch gesture. The scaled-facet listing is displayed by exposing an updated set of the item data having the modified degree of the characteristic and replacing previous item data with the scaled-out listing.

Abstract: Technologies described herein reduce the size of a software application. In some embodiments, the size of one or more resource files of an application are reduced. Resource files include key/value pairs that define elements of the application. In some embodiments, the application's source code is analyzed to determine if an entry in a resource file may be removed. For instance, initialization functions in the application's source code may be analyzed to determine if a value loaded from a resource file is replaced before being used. For example, a button with a color property may be defined as grey by a resource, but later set to orange in an initialization function. In this case, the resource entry defining the button as grey is superfluous and may be safely removed. This technique allows for entries to be removed from a resource file even though the source code references the entries.

Abstract: Example embodiments described herein disclose a specially configured device to receive and recognize enhanced user interactions through a graphical user interface. A user device may accordingly receive and display a set of search results, detect a user input entered via a touch-input device related to a single item from among the set of search results, determine a pressure exerted upon the touch-input device corresponding to the user input, and based on at least the pressure of the user input, select and execute an appropriate commerce action.

Abstract: In an example embodiment, a method of identifying an item depicted in an image is provided. In this method, the image depicting the item is accessed; in addition, other images and their item identifiers are also accessed. A match of the image with one of the other images is identified. With a match, the image is then associated with an item identifier of the matched image.

Abstract: Methods and systems for analyzing, ordering and presenting item listings are described. In one example embodiment, a search query is processed to identify item listings satisfying the search query. Then, for each item listing that satisfies the search query, a ranking score is derived and assigned to the item listing. The ranking score is based in part on a relevance score, a listing quality score and a business rules score (or, adjustment factor). Finally, the item listings are ordered, based on their corresponding ranking score, and presented in order in a search results page.

Abstract: The disclosed technologies include a robotic selling assistant that receives an item from a seller, automatically generates a posting describing the item for sale, stores the item until it is sold, and delivers or sends the item out for delivery. The item is placed in a compartment that uses one or more sensors to identify the item, retrieve supplemental information about the item, and take pictures of the item for inclusion in the posting. A seller-supplied description of the item may be verified based on the retrieved supplemental information, preventing mislabeled items from being sold.

Abstract: Digital image capture session and metadata association techniques are described. In one example, a user input is received to initiate an image capture session. At least one digital image is captured using a digital camera during the image capture session. Audio input data is also collected using an audio input device during the image capture session and is converted into text data, e.g., speech-to-text. Metadata is generated based on the text data and associated with the at least one digital image. The at least one digital image is output as having the associated metadata as completion of the image capture session.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, heavy document object model (DOM) elements in a heavy web page are removed directly from a DOM tree subsequent to a request being received to navigate to another web page but before the web browser actually navigates to that other web page. In one example embodiment, the heavy DOM elements are deleted from the previous page during an ‘onbeforeunload’ event using a scripting language such as Javascript, to ensure that the render of the next page starts faster.

Abstract: Camera platform techniques are described. In an implementation, a plurality of digital images and data describing times, at which, the plurality of digital images are captured is received by a computing device. Objects of clothing are recognized from the digital images by the computing device using object recognition as part of machine learning. A user schedule is also received by the computing device that describes user appointments and times, at which, the appointments are scheduled. A user profile is generated by the computing device by training a model using machine learning based on the recognized objects of clothing, times at which corresponding digital images are captured, and the user schedule. From the user profile, a recommendation is generated by processing a subsequent user schedule using the model as part of machine learning by the computing device.

Abstract: Visual diagram searching techniques are described herein. A visual diagram service enables users to efficiently search for data for item parts even in cases where the name of the item part is unknown. In one or more examples, search query input to locate item parts of an item is received via a user interface displayed by at least one computing device. A visual diagram of the item is displayed in the user interface. The visual diagram includes selectable portions mapped to respective item parts depicted in the corresponding selectable portion of the visual diagram. A user selection of one of the selectable portions of the visual diagram of the item is received via the user interface. In response to the user selection, search result data corresponding to the respective item part depicted in the selected selectable portion of the visual diagram of the item is displayed.

Abstract: A method for compressing data in a local cache of a web server is described. A local cache compression engine accesses values in the local cache and determines a cardinality of the values of the local cache. The local cache compression engine determines a compression rate of a compression algorithm based on the cardinality of the values of the local cache. The compression algorithm is applied to the cache based on the compression rate to generate a compressed local cache.

Abstract: In some embodiments, an app provides a geolocation-limited marketplace limited to a pre-defined period of time. The geolocation-limited marketplace is accessible only by the users in a predefined geographical area. Typically, the predefined geographical area is limited to an area small enough for a user to walk from one end to the other in a short period of time. The pre-defined period of time is of some limited length of time that may occur at a pre-defined interval. In some instances, the period of time is one hour.

Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, systems and methods for publishing and/or sharing media presentations over a network comprise communicating with a user and one or more distribution channels via the network, gathering media resources based on user input, creating a media presentation with the media resources based on user input, and publishing the media presentation by distributing the media presentation to the one or more distribution channels via the network. In one aspect, publishing comprises directly emailing the media presentation to one or more other users via the network. In another aspect, publishing comprises providing a link to one or more other users via the network for direct access to the media presentation. In still another aspect, publishing comprises obtaining and embedding source code for the media presentation in a web page associated with one or more of the distribution channels via the network.

Abstract: According to various exemplary embodiments, an electronic text message is received from a source telephone number, the electronic text message including content describing a product item. A seller of the product item is identified, based on the source telephone number, and the product item is identified, based on the content included in the electronic text message. Thereafter, a draft version of an item listing is automatically generated, where the item listing lists the product item as being for sale by the seller on a marketplace website.

Abstract: Techniques for providing a virtual item shopping environment are presented herein. Live video of a person walking past a display is captured using a camera. One or more items are selected from a database automatically by determining an item available for sale and selecting the item without intervention from the person. One or more data records representing one or more respective items are retrieved from a database. The items are presented on a display based on the data records representing the respective items. Presentation is perform by presenting live real-time video of the person walking past the display with an overlaid view of the item available for sale to provide an unrequested view of the item available for sale.

Abstract: In some examples, a system comprises a memory device for storing instructions and a processor which executes instructions causing the system to perform operations comprising receiving an instruction to transfer a state of a first device to a second device, and packaging information relating to the state of the first device in a file. The packaging of the information relating to the state of the first device includes recording each application executing on the first device in a list maintained in the file, and transferring the file containing information relating to the state of the first device to the second device, either directly or indirectly based on an availability of connections between the first device and the second device. The file, when processed by the second device, causes the second device to reproduce the state of the first device. In some example, reproducing the state of the first device includes the second device downloading, from one or more of the locations, one or more of the applications.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a system comprising a machine-readable storage medium storing at least one program and computer-implemented methods for detecting a language of a text string. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include applying multiple language identification models to a text string. Each language identification model provides a predicted language of the text string and a confidence score associated with the predicted language. The method may further include weighting each associated confidence score based on historical performance of the corresponding language identification model in predicting languages of other text strings. The method may further include selecting a predicted language of the text string from among the multiple predicted languages provided by the multiple language identification models based on a result of the weighting of the confidence score associated with the particular predicted language.

In some embodiments, a beacon ID associated with a beacon device located at a store is received. In other embodiments, at least one product identifier associated with the beacon ID and representing one or more of store displayed items available for sale by the store is determined. In further embodiments, product variations of the one or more store displayed items available for sale by the store are identified associated with the at least one product identifier. In another embodiment, display information representing the product variations of the one or more store displayed items available for sale by the store is provided.

Abstract: An audio output device may include one or more audio sensors configured to detect ambient sound and noises around the audio output device. The audio output device may include a controller configured to analyze the detected sound and noises and may adjust audio settings of the audio output device accordingly. In an embodiment, the controller may analyze and recognize that the detected noise is another person's attempt to get the user's attention or to talk to the user, such as audio sound of the user's name. In response, the controller may stop the audio output or lower the volume of the audio output.

Abstract: Electronic content that has a tactile dimension when presented on a tactile-enabled computing device may be referred to as tactile-enabled content. A tactile-enabled device is a device that is capable of presenting tactile-enabled content in a manner that permits a user to experience tactile quality of electronic content. In one example embodiment, a system is provided for generating content that has a tactile dimension when presented on a tactile-enabled device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products for identifying a relevant candidate product in an electronic marketplace. Embodiments perform a visual similarity comparison between candidate product image visual content and input query image visual content, process formal and informal natural language user inputs, and coordinate aggregated past user interactions with the marketplace stored in a knowledge graph. Visually similar items and their corresponding product categories, aspects, and aspect values can determine suggested candidate products without discernible delay during a multi-turn user dialog. The user can then refine the search for the most relevant items available for purchase by providing responses to machine-generated prompts that are based on the initial search results from visual, voice, and/or text inputs. An intelligent online personal assistant can thus guide a user to the most relevant candidate product more efficiently than existing search tools.

Abstract: A model generation machine may form all or part of a network-based system. The model generation machine may generate an item model (e.g., a 3D model of the item) based on a set of images of an item and based on a product model (e.g., a 3D model of a product of which the item is a specimen). The item may be available for purchase from a seller. The model generation machine may access the set of images, as well as a descriptor of the item. Based on the descriptor, the model generation machine may identify the product model. Accordingly, the model generation machine may generate the item model from the identified product model and the accessed set of images.

Abstract: A method and a system convert the value of a gift card for use with a mobile device. The value of the gift card is determined from an issuer of the gift card. The value of the gift card is stored in a digital payment account in a storage device. The digital payment account stores values of gift cards from issuers. A financial transaction corresponding to the issuer of the gift card is performed on the digital payment account. The value of a first gift card from a first issuer of a first digital payment account is exchanged with the value of a second gift card from a second issuer of a second digital payment account.

Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for wireless beacon devices for use in tracking user locations during group travel. A user may take a trip on a vehicle, such as a bus, train, cruise ship, or other large travel vehicle. The users may disembark the vehicle in order to visit a location but plan to travel further on the vehicle. Thus, when the vehicle is attempting to leave the location where the users have left the vehicle, the vehicle may be required to again account for each passenger. The vehicle may utilize a wireless beacon located near an entrance and/or onboard the vehicle to account for each passenger. The wireless beacon may connect to a communication device of each user when the communication device is in proximity to the wireless beacon and, thus, inform the vehicle's operator that each user in located on the vehicle.

Abstract: Methods and system for item matching are described. In one embodiment, compatibility-based text for an item may be accessed. A compatibility identifier may be identified based on the compatibility-based text. The compatibility identifier may be associated with an item duster. The compatibility identifier may be used to identify a plurality of matching items. A result may be provided based on identification of the plurality of matching items. Additional methods and systems are disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided including a processor, a memory, and a vehicle tracking portal. The vehicle tracking portal is configured to obtain vehicle identification information regarding a vehicle. Then diagnostic information regarding the vehicle can be obtained. Then, based on the vehicle identification and the diagnostic information, a recommended service for the vehicle can be determined. A user can then be alerted to the recommended service.

Abstract: A system and method for structuring search results for attribute comparison are presented. A product selection from a user device is received. The product selection has a plurality of attributes associated with it. A plurality of adjustable sliders configured to allow the user to refine a search is generated and caused to be displayed in a user interface of the user device. One or more adjustments of the plurality of adjustable sliders is received. In response to the user to an adjustment made to a first adjustable slider of the plurality of adjustable sliders, an analysis of a networked database for search results that match values indicated by the plurality of adjustable sliders including the adjustment made to the first adjustable slider is performed. The search results are caused to be presented on the user interface displayed on the user device.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, systems and methods to provide proximity recommendations are provided. In example embodiments, data representing prioritized recommendations for a user is received. The data representing the prioritized recommendations is used to generated a composite visual representation by embedding select prioritized recommendations into a visual representation. The composite visual representation presents a higher prioritized recommendation in a more spatially prominent manner than a lower prioritized recommendation. The composite visual representation is then presented to the user.

A search engine receives a partial search request with one or more characters from a client device. A first set of auto-complete recommendations corresponding to the one or more characters of the partial search request are identified. A second partial search request is predicted that comprises a set of characters with one or more additional characters added to the one or more characters from the partial search request. A second set of auto-complete recommendations corresponding to the second partial search request is identified. The first set of auto-complete recommendations and the second set of auto-complete recommendations are returned to the client device as a response to the partial search request.

Abstract: Systems and methods to reserve resources is provided. In exemplary embodiments, a selection of a profile from a user is received. A dynamic graphical user interface is generated, using one or more processors. The dynamic graphical user interface allows the user to configure a topology based on the selected profile. The dynamic graphical user interface provides input fields in which the user may select a resource. An indication of the selected applicable topology property for configuring the topology is received. A topology is automatically generating based in part on the selected applicable topology property.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for managing media bandwidth usage are disclosed. One disclosed method includes determining a network connection state of a computing device, receiving a request that requests media content, altering the request to request a synthetic representation of the media content instead of the media content in response to the network connection state being one of a set of predefined network connection states and the media content violating one or more restrictions of the network connection state, and requesting the media content in response to a user selecting the synthetic representation.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a navigation system and computer-implemented methods for detecting traffic disruption events based on an analysis of input component data obtained from navigation-enabled devices of vehicles near a particular location. Traffic disruption events are events such as accidents, construction road closures, police and speed traps, or road hazards that cause a decrease in the flow of traffic along a particular route and thus, added time delays for occupants of vehicles traveling along those routes. The navigation system scores the input component data associated with each vehicle and aggregates the scored input component data to obtain a frustration score associated with the vehicle. The navigation system may detect traffic disruption events based on a number of vehicles near a particular area having associated frustration scores above a certain threshold.

Abstract: Sequential selections are presented by receiving an input on an active portion of a display of the computing device. While the input is received, a plurality of selections are sequentially displayed on the display. An indication is received that the input on the active portion of the display of the computing device has changed. In response to receiving the indication that the input has changed, the computing device stops presenting the plurality of selections and determines which selection of the plurality of selections was presented on the display when the input changed. The determined selection is then displayed.

Abstract: Techniques for managing electronic user profiles are presented herein. An example method includes accessing, from a data structure, a user profile. The user profile can include a profile identifier and a plurality of data fields. The method also includes displaying, on a display device, an interactive user interface. The user interface can include a plurality of user interface action elements. Each of the user interface action elements can be associated with a data field in the data structure. Each of the user interface action elements can also be individually selectable by a respective user action to transmit the associated data field to a remote device. In response to receiving a selection of a user interface action element, the method can further include transmitting the associated data field and the profile identifier to a router configured to send, based on the profile identifier, the associated data field to the remote device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for organizing structured items in an e-commerce system are presented. In some aspects, the systems and methods may include a back-end structured item organizing system associated with a front-end category mapping system which is configured to process use case requests. In some aspects, a use case request may identify an item for classification by the back-end structured organizing system. In some aspects, the described systems and methods may select a listing bucket from a set of listing buckets of the back-end structured organizing system based on attribute values indicated in the use case request, and may cause a user interface of the front-end category mapping system to display one or more characteristics associated with items categorized within the selected listing bucket.

Abstract: Systems and methods of rate limiting are disclosed herein. In some example embodiments, a rate limiter service receives a request from an online application to access an online resource, and the rate limiter service transmits an indication of the request to a back end system, and an enforcement decision corresponding to the online resource is received from the back end system, with the enforcement decision comprising an instruction to either permit or deny access to the online resource, and the receiving of the enforcement decision from the back end system being performed asynchronously with the receiving of the request and the transmitting of the indication. In some example embodiments, the enforcement decision received from the back end system is stored, the stored enforcement decision is accessed in response to the receiving of the request, and the request is responded to using the accessed enforcement decision.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing search results based on time obtain an item are discussed. In an example, a method can include receiving a search query, generating search results, calculating a time to obtain for each listing in the search results, and arranging the search results for display. The search query can include a current location of a mobile device. The search results can include a plurality of listings, with each listing including a location. The locations representing either a physical location proximate the current location or a delivery time to the current location. The search results can be arranged for display in various manners according to the calculated time to obtain for each result.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for receiving a plurality of comments at a particular phase of a transaction with a member of a networked system, classifying one or more of the plurality of comments into one of a set of predetermined sentiment classifications, applying a trained machine learning system to select a category from a set of predefined categories for each of the one or more comments, applying a natural language processing module to generate a sub-category for each of the one or more comments, associating the generated sub-categories with their respective categories for the one or more comments, and generating a display of the determined categories for the particular transaction with the generated sub-categories, each generated sub-category being graphically connected to their respective categories.

Abstract: A system for transmitting information related to a network-based marketplace includes identifying information that may be interesting, useful, and entertaining to the users and to the potential users of the network-based marketplace. The identified information may be other than information that is already being displayed in listings by the network-based marketplace. The identified information may be about the sellers, the buyers or other items related to the items offered for sale.
