Microsoft Edge is Getting AI-Powered History Search

Microsoft is rolling out a new AI-powered feature in Edge Beta that greatly improves the search through the browsing history. Dubbed “Enhanced search,” it allows users to quickly find previously visited websites using natural language queries. It can recognize synonyms, or even approximate phrases. So you should not even remember the site URL or exact page title.

Windows 11 Build 26120.4250 (Beta) finally ships the new Start menu

Microsoft has released  Windows 11 (version 24H2) Build  26120.4250 (KB5060820) to Insiders in the Beta channel. It features a new Start menu shows all apps in the single list along with pins. It also shows app categories in the same list, and allows disabling the recommended section. Also, it comes with improvements made to the Settings app, Narrator, and File Explorer. And much more.

Windows 11 will be heavily optimized for ROG consoles with a special mode

Microsoft has revealed a heavily optimized Windows 11 for portable gaming consoles. It is a special mode where the Xbox app acts like a shell. The OS itself will automatically shut down all processes not required for games. This frees up up to 2 GB of RAM and improves performance. But there will be optimizations made to the Windows 11's user interface, adapted for portable gaming consoles.

Microsoft Edge Improves Picture-in-Picture with Enhanced Controls

Microsoft is rolling out a new version of its picture-in-picture (PiP) feature for the Edge browser. It includes playback controls (pause/play, skip forward/backward, and even a progress bar), the option to mute the sound, 10-second time jumps, and much more. The flyout looks and feels like a media player.

KDE Project Warns Windows 10 Users: Upgrade to Linux or PC Will Turn into Junk

The KDE project has published a statement on its website that warns Windows 10 PC users about end of support. The message states that their computers could soon become junk unless they install a Linux distribution. Obviously, they recommend the default KDE Plasma desktop environment. Distros that run it out of the box are Kubuntu, Fedora KDE Spin, openSUSE, and KDE Neon. But as KDE points out, Plasma isn't your only option. There are other desktop environments, too, like GNOME, Xfce, and Cinnamon.
