New Delhi: NDTV Lifestyle, the subsidiary of NDTV Networks Plc., is planning to launch more lifestyle channels in the next two years. It launched its first lifestyle channel, NDTV Good Times, in association with UB Group earlier this month.
“We are looking at launching around three-five new lifestyle channels in the next two years,” said Smeeta Chakrabarti, chief executive, NDTV Lifestyle. Discovery’s Travel and Living, Zee Group’s Trendz and Times TV’s Zoom are some of the leading lifestyle channels. While the current lifestyle channels are generic in nature and cover areas such as travel, living, fine-dining and fashion trends, among others, NDTV Lifestyle says its new channels will be more focused on certain areas. “Like the magazine space, we are looking at launching channels focused on one areasuch as gardening or fine-dining,”said Chakrabarti.
NDTV Lifestyle also plans to launch a Hindi language channel in the lifestyle space.
Meanwhile, Good Times plans to launch a website, and mobile initiatives. It also plans to have a lot of “outdoor presence”.
“We are also looking at taking Good Times to international markets, which have a large Indian diaspora, by early next year,” said Chakrabarti. Some of the markets identified were Indonesia, Malaysia, West Asia and the United Kingdom. Staff writer
