GONZALEZ ON THE BALL. It looks like Leon Gonzalez, an eighth-round Dallas draft choice from Bethune-Cookman College, may have found himself a job. Dallas Coach Tom Landry said Gonzalez,”is way ahead of the other rookies. He may be able to help us this year.” Gonzalez had a good game last Saturday night when Dallas opened its exhibition season against the Green Bay Packers. He was second in receiving to veteran Tony Hill in the Cowboys’ 27-3 victory over the Packers. Gonzalez caught two passes for 32 yards. Hill had 36 yards on two receptions. Gonzalez said both the passes were over the middle, “the kind I need to make to play in the NFL.”
