Research Overview

WRIISC research focuses on improving the health of Veterans with post-deployment health concerns. Researchers and clinicians at WRIISC work together to find new treatments and use proven methods to care for Veterans.
WRIISC research covers many topics, such as how exposures during military service affect health, treatments for deployment-related illnesses like Gulf War Illness, health and wellness approaches, and how to communicate risks related to deployment. WRIISC also has three centers of excellence that research exposure to airborne hazards, complex exposure threats, and the health of women Veterans. The research projects at WRIISC tackle some of the most pressing and poorly understood health issues that affect Veterans.

One way WRIISC shares its research findings is by publishing in scientific journals.

WRIISC’s research labs study specific health conditions related to military service and deployment. By working together across three sites, WRIISC research helps provide a better understanding of health issues related to deployment, so that Veterans everywhere can benefit from new discoveries.
