Hi All - I’m new to Spiceworks, so I’d just like to say hi to everyone and apologise in advance if this is the wrong area to post my question!
I’m currently looking into a Sofware license auditing solution to implement at work. For a long time we used Hornbill’s Assetworks, which was “OK” but a little clunky. This went EOL earlier this year so we need another solution.
I’ve had a quick look into what’s available and there a hundreds of different products available - the problem is, I can’t seem to find any end user information that would give me an unbiased view of what the products are like.
So far I’ve looked at Certero, Lansweeper and KACE - all seem to do what I want to achieve which is to be able to scan machines that are connected to our network and obtain a list of the software that is installed (With a view to the ensuring we have the correct amount of licenses).
I was wondering what sort of solutions you guys utilise or would recommend? Any information that would help me narrow down my search would be greatly appreciated, I’m afraid this is the first time I’ve looked at anything like this so I’m a bit lost!
Thanks in advance!

I’ve been using spiceworks to do so. I suppose I ccould see perhaps where it’s not suitable in all situations.

I’m sitting doing some cleanups on Spiceworks this very moment for a M$ audit. Granted, with 54 locations and over a thousand devices, this does take some cleaning up, Spiceworks has always delivered in my auditing work.

At the risk of sounding like an absolute idiot here, yes I am being serious - I wasn’t aware that Spiceworks did this! I was aware of the Spiceworks helpdesk software, but not of the auditing side of things.
I think the best thing for me to do is more research and try not to waste any more of your time - Sorry!!!
