One of the more noticeable omissions on the Switch 2 is the lack of Hall effect sticks on its Joy-Cons. The same goes for Nintendo’s new Pro Controller for the Switch 2, which also doesn’t appear to include Hall effect sticks – at least there are now mentions of it on the official site. If you’re looking for a more durable and drift-resistant alternative, PowerA’s new Advantage Wired Controller is definitely worth considering. This is the brand’s latest release which is now up for pre-order starting at $39.99 shipped. It comes in a few different finishes, but only the white one has Lumectra lighting and is priced at $49.99 shipped. Hit the jump for a closer look and more details.

PowerA Advantage Wired Switch 2 controller with Hall effect

The highlight of this new PowerA controller is that it features Hall effect modules in the thumbsticks for reliable and precise movements. The contact-free magnetic sensors in the thumbsticks should help with precision and longevity, and they make this controller a lot better for folks who are not happy with the omission of this tech In Joy-Cons and even the new Pro controller. This officially licensed controller also has Advanced Gaming Buttons which you can “program on-the-fly, mid-game – no system settings to configure.” There’s also a separate button to activate GameChat features on your console, which is pretty neat.

Similar to PowerA’s existing Advantage controllers, one of the new models compatible with the Switch 2 also has vibrant Lumectra lighting to enable a feature that the brand calls “Ghost Lighting.” The classic white shell of this controller is said to have full-faced lighting tech hidden behind the faceplate when turned off. It comes to life with “thousands of color combinations and 5 lighting modes” when turned on to improve your experience.

Other noteworthy features of this new Switch 2 controller include embedded anti-friction rings for smooth thumbstick control, a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack with onboard audio controls, a bundled 10-foot cable, and more.

The new PowerA Advantage Wired gamepad is a great option to consider if you don’t want to spend too much on Nintendo’s Switch 2 Pro controller or are looking for an alternative with Hall effect sticks. Only the white variant of this new gamepad with RGB lighting is now up for pre-orders at Best Buy, though we expect the other options to go on sale very soon, too. You can reserve your unit now starting at $39.99 shipped and these start shipping on July 14. The white one with RGB lighting is going for $49.99 shipped.
