8Bitdo has just unleashed its new Pro 3 wireless controller, now up for pre-order on Amazon. This is the successor to the popular Pro 2 model from 2021, offering broader compatibility with a wide range of platforms, including the Switch 2, Valve’s Steam Deck and other SteamOS-based handhelds, PC, iOS, and more. You can pre-order and reserve your unit now for $69.99 shipped, and be among the first to get your hands on it when it officially launches on August 12, 2025. The listing is also covered by Amazon’s Pre-order Price Guarantee, which means you’ll pay the lowest price offered between now and the release date. The Pro 3 brings several improvements over the existing model, so be sure to hit the jump for a closer look at the gamepad along with its features.

The new 8Bitdo Pro 3 wireless controller comes with all the features that made the Pro 2 model popular while adding even more. It has a very similar design overall, and it comes in Purple, Gray, and G Classic colorways. All three units also come with a color-matched charging dock to keep them topped up and ready to go when you need them. One of the highlights of the new Pro 3 wireless controller is that it sports magnetic ABXY buttons which you can remove and swap between Switch and Xbox layouts. Notably, each of these controllers also comes with two ball-top joystick caps that add a fun aesthetic touch. The G Classic and Gray ones come with red caps whereas the Purple one ships with yellow caps.

Just like the Ultimate 2 wireless controller, the Pro 3 also has TMR joysticks “for higher sensitivity, greater precision, and enhanced durability” while consuming less power overall, and you also get Hall effect triggers with a mode switching feature. Other noteworthy features of the new 8Bitdo Pro 3 controller include a tactile D-pad, two “pro-level back buttons,” extra R4, L4 bumpers, a USB-C adapter that sits inside the included charging dock, and full compatibility with the Ultimate Software V2 for customization. Lastly, it’s worth pointing out that the Pro 3 gamepad has support for vibrations and even motion controls (for Switch and Steam only), though you won’t find any RGB lights on this model whatsoever.

You can still score the brand’s Pro 2 controller if you’d rather not wait for the new Pro 3 to go on sale. It’s also compatible with the Switch 2 and has Hall effect sticks, and you can snag one for $47.99 shipped right now with a 20% discount on its usual going rate of $60.
