Assassin’s Creed: Shadows Switch 2 release all but imminent as Ubisoft seemingly confirms as much

Assassin’s Creed Shadows for Nintendo Switch 2

Back in April before the Switch 2 set sales records a few months later, we reported on an Assassin’s Creed: Shadows Switch 2 PEGI rating. While that rating was taken down thereafter, recent hints from the Ubisoft boss suggests the latest ninja-meets-samurai adventure’s release on the next-generation Nintendo hardware is all but imminent now.

Even before the Switch 2 rating for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was spotted in April, rumors were surfacing everywhere, some from particularly reliable sources and some not so much, that a slew of Ubisoft games would be landing on Switch 2.

As of right now, just about all lists of rumored and likely upcoming Switch 2 port lists include both Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, ours included. And we have some additional fuel to throw onto the fire courtesy of a recent Ubisoft earnings call.

Reports surfaced recently highlighting what sounds to be about as close to confirmation as it gets on the upcoming Switch 2 launch for the latest Assassin’s Creed experience.

During Ubisoft’s latest quarterly earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot hinted that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was indeed on the way to Switch 2.

More specifically, Guillemot said there will be “some new versions” of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows that “will come on other machines.”

We already know there is a version scheduled for iPadOS, and I guess that could be what Guillemot is referring to, but chances are he’s talking about the biggest machine in gaming right now at the earnings call, and that’s the Nintendo Switch 2.

This news, if you want to call it that, essentially leans credence to what many folks already assumed, but if the previous PEGI sighting wasn’t enough for you, chances are the Creed is coming to Switch 2 and potentially sooner than later.

Will we get an official confirmation of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows and potentially Mirage at the rumored Direct showcase expected for this month? Quite possibly yes. Other Ubisoft games rumored to land on Switch 2 include something from The Division and Rainbow Six Siege series.
