I have read various articles and other open cases on this but not found a solution. I have created a local administrator account called spiceworks on all client devices in my test lab.

In the scan settings I am using .\spiceworks for WMI. All devices are picked up by host name or IP but it fails to authenticate or pull any information from them. When I try to manually test credentials with spiceworks fix it I get

check account, password or WMI configuration

The user is a full admin, an the administrators group has full WMI access etc etc. Have disabled the firewall on the machines. One of them is a new build with no anti-virus. Disabled UAC. I’ve only ever had it working in a domain environment but we have a huge number of small clients who are not in a domain environment.

2 Spice ups

Try enabling file and printer sharing on the guests, under network sharing centre and if needs be run the registry file on them

Spiceworks_UAC_remote_allow.reg (167 Bytes)

Thanks Rod, have already tried this unfortunately.

Is F&P enabled?

What firewall are they using, windows one of a built in one with the AV?

What error do you get and do you have any screenshots?

F&P is enabled, we have a gateway firewall but windows & AV firweall disabled on both the scanning device and devices being scanned.

Screen shot of error attached.

Tick the skip domain controller test otherwise it will fail
