We’ve pushed out the final build of the 3.0 release out to our servers. To ensure a smooth upgrade the updates will be slow-rolled out. Your Spiceworks installation will receive a notification about the update in the next day or so.

Congrats on getting some great features out! I know the exchange features will come in useful for a lot of people!

Life before Spiceworks??? It doesn’t bear thinking about. Could I just say a HUGE thanks to everyone who has been working on this… its a FANTASTIC product, and does everything except make me a cup of tea (should I put that down as a feature request?) !

Please keep up the good work, you’ve made my life SO much easier, the lives of my users has been made easier too (via Helpdesk), and whenver a senior manager sidles over to ask “How many installs of Office do we have?” or “What’s our current hardware situation?” I can furnish them with reports that are so detailed they go weak at the knees.

Once again “THANK YOU VERY MUCH” and I’m sure this will be echoed my many other users too.

Is there anyway to get it sooner? There are a couple of features that I was really looking for from the final release before I can actually start to use Spiceworks with the whole company. If not I will wait, just really excited to start sharing Spiceworks with our users.

I downloaded it right from spiceworks.com. Clicked free download right on the main page…

Even tho the main page said its 2.1 the download was version 3.0.23470.0…

Hopefully thats the final cuz I installed it right over my existing installation and everything seems to be workin fine (just used helpdesk so far).

Ok I upgraded today it looks great. I was watching the videos did the network glidemake it into the final release? If so where is it?

You can find the Glide feature at the top right. Middle icon.

Can’t wait, just wish I could have helped during the Beta but I rely on SW so didn’t want to risk messing up my current install and couldn’t spare the time for a test install.

For those of you that haven’t been “slow-rolled” yet, but want to go ahead and upgrade, all you have to do is download and install directly from the website. Most everyone will get upgraded over the next week though.

I guess I have final release ver. 3.0.23470. WOW the interface is slow! So much slower than 2.0. Also the “compare” feature still does not work in browse mode. It seems to work in icon mode which is very slow and I can’t even try it in Glide cause that locks up completely. I don’t use Exchange so I would gladly give up some of these new “features” to get the speed back. I have a large inventory (1000 devices) but it wasn’t a problem in the 2.x versions.

I am not having the slow interface issues that others are having, just the fact that the page is set wider than my screen still.

Hey David, I see the comparison problem you’re talking about. I’ve opened an issue and we’ll take a look. Sorry about that.

As for your slow interface, what browser are you using? We’ve done some work on the Browse component to make it easier to maintain and extend and it is a bit slower in IE6 due to this (but you shouldn’t see much difference in IE7 or Firefox).

Interesting. The IE 7.0 on my SW server is much slower than the IE 7.0 I have on my desk. I have been testing from the server. Now I am working at my desk and I really can’t complain. Sorry about that. I can even use Glide. A couple of little things: when starting the inventory app in browse mode the tree is messed up until I choose another function and then come back. The categories are tabs at the bottom instead of part of the tree. Also, the custom groups I have created have messed up icons (in the icon mode) until I again switch and come back. Also, I read somewhere the help request could be modified so the user would have to provide specific info. Where is that?

Hi David,

You can set up custom attributes in Settings->Advanced Options. Just make sure the attributes apply to tickets and are marked as visible to the end user. Now when your users create new tickets in the user portal they’ll see the new fields.

I have a big problem after having migrated to version 3.0 final I do not work anymore and the alert after creating custom group of crawling me on all machines ole error … if not amount, the database does everything but make my head all the rules for me is a big inconvenience because I have 5 mask

Version 3 still not able to retrieve client PC software product key.

Is it a known issue or I missed out something?

Yeah… Before… No… Without SpiceWorks… That was not Life. And this release is cool… Grat! And Thanks… Only in this manner long!
