I’m posting this because the other thread discussing this issues stops at resolving due to it residing on the same server as Spiceworks Helpdesk. Network monitor is installed on its own server and I can do the initial login but after logging off then trying to log in again it fails saying Invalid Email or Password.
I’ve confirmed that I’m using the correct password.

The email and password should be that of the same as what you downloaded it with or the same as the community if you’ve already used it.

It is, this is literally what happens.
Right after install I perform the initial login using my community account information. I log out then try to log back in using that same information and it says its wrong.

That’s really odd that you would still see this on a dedicated host w/ a new install. Do you have any appliance that could be filtering communication back to *.spiceworks.com? It’s not likely that you would be able to login the first time at all if this was the case, but I’ve seen similar oddities with proxies. Could you post a screenshot of the error with the address bar shown?

Here it is when accessed from localhost on the server its running on. The behavior is the same from any other browser or machine. This only started happening with the switch to 1.5 of the monitor. This also acts this way with HTTP or HTTPS.

Ignore running it on the server, does it still do this when run from a remote system using http://servername:8080/login
Of course that port would need to be open on the local fireall

Since this is a new install, I’d like to have you re-install using a different email account and then try inviting your original email back in as a secondary admin. Let’s see if the new admin user also has this same issue.

When logging in with the new temporary account it works every time. So I invited myself, initial login was successful but logging out then back in results in the same error “Invalid email or password”
Oddly enough, the area of the monitor where the logged in user is displayed with their avatar, on my initial successful login of my regular account the avatar is a broken image. This is not the case when using my temporary new account, it displays the generic avatar but it’s not broken.

That is bizarre. Let’s start with removing the account from Network Monitor that is not working, resetting your community password through https://community.spiceworks.com/ and then re-inviting that email account and see if logging in with the new password changes anything.

I actually did that a few days ago, when it first started giving me that error I assumed I had screwed up my password so I reset it just to be safe.

Thanks for the info. I would like to get a set of logs from you so that we can take a look at what’s going on during authentication. I will send over instructions for sending those in shortly.

Will commented in his direct communications with me that if I had changed the email address that was going to send notifications to me while doing the initial login on the Network Monitor that that could cause these problems. That’s precisely what I was doing. Moral of the story, don’t change that email address.
