I have couple of xerox 3610 printers connected via TCP\\IP to our IBM Iseries 7.2

it seems the users get notification from the iseries that there is a paper jam, but on the printer all you see is “ready”.

user reboots the printer, and it starts printing. user is not removing any paper, just restarting the printer.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that the Iseries thinks the printer has a paper jam, but the printer thinks everything is fine.

any ideas on what could cause this? I have the programmer looking at the driver for the printer on the iseries, but other than that not sure what could be the issue.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Could it possibly be the printer sleep mode? I have seen this on some models where the printer goes to sleep and the printer hangs, and since I have the writer set to auto restart when it boots up printing resumes.

{"@type":"Person
drewdunkel
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/drewdunkel"}},{"@type":"Answer

possible, the printers sometimes go a day or two without being used.

the users say that this happens while printing, but so far have not been able to show me that… you know users.

{"@type":"Person
jamestkirk
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/jamestkirk"}},{"@type":"Answer

If you think it is a driver issue, the easiest thing to do is change to basic laserjet 4 series or whatever the printers emulate.

I would also check when they report this that the writer has not ended…

{"@type":"Person
toodamax
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/toodamax"}}]}}
