Good to see this one, a couple of people recently have been reporting this.
- Devices overwriting one another despite unique serial number and MAC
YAY! Was looking for this one! Fingers crossed it fixes the issue we’re having!

Still no fix for 77651? Sad panda. I still cannot confirm that my software inventory is correct.
Sigh. At least I also use another asset tracking that does show correct software versions and counts.
Wow. I’m normally seeing duplicate devices getting created with unique serial numbers/mac addresses, not the other way around…
That is what I get. I would run inventory reports that would have the device multiple times even though the serial number was the same.
Manage engine integration is great but Is there an ticket elevation in the works?

81053 was really becoming a nuisance
Downloading to test if fixed …
Hey Brian, If you haven’t already worked with us on this just shoot an email to support@spiceworks.com and we can work this out. It might not require a bug fix…

Don’t forget, having a download link in the OP makes it quicker and easier for us busy IT Pros:
Download the latest version here: www.spiceworks.com/download
I’ve just downloaded and installed the new version 7.5.00091 but 81053 & 81411 yet not resolved. Scans are overwriting devices.
Example: Printer overwriting.
Name, Serial Number, Server Name changed on t15-col-37191
Name was e310-col-04443, now t15-col-37191
Serial Number was CNGTG400xx, now CNGTG400xy
Server Name was e310-col-04443, now t15-col-37191
81053 Not Fixed
Asset Tag, Bios Date, Bios Version ... changed on dc01
MAC Address changed on dc01
IP Address changed on dc01
Discovered dc01
If everything “changed” its not the same device…

Looks like we only got some of the cases for 81053 fixed. SNMP devices especially are still seeing the issue. We have a new ticket open for that, and are actively investigating: 82695. Hope to have a quick turn around on that, as we know its affecting lot of folks.
81053 - devices overwriting one another despite unique serial number and MAC
Hopefully this is resolved for us.
What does " 82123" actually do? Where can I find out more about that?
Small change to the admin email notifications (HTML version) - you should see a “Reply Now” button in the ticket overview details, like this:

Hey Bill,
one year ago Peter created bug number #72189 and Craig #72252 specifically for this issue ( Central Site Issue With Remote Site Computers With Same Name
I never saw this bug numbers in the release notes and hoped #81053 is a cumulative patch. But the problem still exists!
Please, give us a check box with the caption “other MAC address is another device”. Okey, maybe it’s just a work-around but it’s better then changing devices in the inventory
Hi m-a-w, the fixes in #81053 don’t include/rollup #72189 and #72252, but those are still open (we don’t consider them closed out as fixed, yet, either). Sorry we haven’t been able to fix those yet.
Should our helpdesk users be seeing browser notifications from the portal? If so, does that happen whenever one of their tickets is updated? Do they need to leave a helpdesk portal tab open for that to work?
