Very nice list of squashed bugs!

Can you confirm the OpenSSL update reason? Specifically, if it was due to a disclosed security vulnerability?

new shiny!

but: are we no longer providing MDM?

I love it! My main issues were 52669, 83870, 77943 and 80717.

On another note, Jon can you please include the quick link as you normally do?

MDM is going away :frowning:

You can find more information and an explanation here: Mobile Device Management (MDM) to be removed From Spiceworks Inventory

Nice!, i had a lot of scanning errors on some PC, i hope this update will fix it, Also Jon, it would be great to put a Log of the scan for the devices to check for scan fails and on where it failed to have an hint on where to look at to fix it.

maybe it can be added on the timeline log tab, ex. an Alert saying "scan error: RPC not available, or WMI not found, or “failed getting info on WMI” or “Failed updating device info” . or whataver the error may be.

It would be great knowing that kind of info, to know the issue and where to look in order to fix it.

I read the post on MDM, and since this is a two stage process with the first step being today and the second July 19, I wonder if Spiceworks 8 will be released on (or around) that date. Jackie (Spiceworks) did mention they were hoping for around Q2 2017.

Thanks, upgrading.

Sad about MDM and hope this upgrade go better than previous release that we had to do fresh installs to eliminate ghost finder problems (mem leaks),

I was hoping for that, but at this rate, I can best hope for a Beta in that time frame.

Finder still overwriting devices with same name.

Sounds like you guys need more Raid. Thank you.

It’s also overwriting existing devices. The one below just disappeared from the database, which is what Spiceworks once did.
It has trouble knowing what to do with two devices with the same IP and DNS records - which causes problems scanning our DHCP range.
I feel for the developers, it’s tricky problem to solve.

Ultimately its all about the computer name.

In my instance, the only thing that is the same is the computer name.

Different IP, MAC, serial number and Bios number.

Trying to fix these types of errors is like peeling an onion. For each problem that gets fixed for a given scenario, we find several more. If you’re having issues, please contact support either via the Support forum or support@spiceworks.com. Ultimately, we need your data in order to look at your problem again.
Jackie.

Will do.

I am happy to put some time into getting this resolved.

Thanks

This bug: " Bug #77015: Reports - timeframe options not converting properly"…
Is it the time format bug, where times/dates wouldn’t convert properly? Give me a good monday news please

All the bugs we fixed are listed in the release notes. You can do a Ctrl-F to search the page, and yes, you will see your bug number.

Installed the latest version yesterday and I’ve found some issues.

  1. Bug 71648 is back. It appears that this bug reappears every other release. Can we get this fixed permanently?
  2. Bug 71648 dealt with saving and running reports not working. The reports saved, but wouldn’t run. I’m now seeing that report changes aren’t updating the report list. I exported a report and then imported it. That worked, but then I changed the criteria and the name and when you view the report list it shows the old name. If you go into the report, it shows the saved info.
  3. Apparently this release destroyed reporting. The original report that I had above no longer runs based on the criteria. The criteria is simple. Criteria = if Asset Tag is blank then show that device. Instead of showing devices with blank Asset Tags, it shows all devices.
