Yes, it is yet another alignment chart by yours truly. This one is about users:
It’s just a draft… still needs lots of formatting help, for instance, but I thought you all could help me with suggestions for improvement before I get my graphic designer brother to make it prettier.
Meanwhile, vote in the poll and tell me what kind of users you have.

The most annoying thing a user can say is…my computer won’t work and give no description. Does it turn on? Does it let you sign in, does it attempt to go to the website…I was able to learn and speak in their language for a job I recently had with our company. Like it or not they have their own language. lol

No longer bother asking anything other than “show me what you were doing when it happened”.

Love it… hard to vote, because… well we have met them all. But most of ours fall in the neutral zone.

A computer repair shop perspective: Is there an alignment for “My son/grandson/daughter/granddaughter who is VERY computer savvy told me that all I have to do is {insert incorrect diagnosis here}, so can you just do that for me (and not properly diagnose the computer)?”

Mostly in the neutral line, thankfully, but there’s a couple of Evil users who I’d be happy to see the back of.

I have some chaotic good users- they bring me Chick Fil A in addition to their problems

I had to go with Chaotic Neutral. I can’t get them to tell me when things aren’t working properly.

My favorite user would have to be chaotic good for no other reason than the donuts. Sadly I am stuck with usually being forced to buy my own doughnuts .

Question though… Would chaotic excellent bring both donuts and bacon???!!!
Should there be a 4th row? hmmmmm

That’s a good idea. How could users be even better? … And do users like that exist?

I’m not sure where they would fall on the chart, but I have had several senior level folks at different companies who would call or stop me in the hallway and mention that they were having an issue, “But it isn’t urgent.” But not urgent to them means it doesn’t have to be done in the next two minutes, but definitely within the next half hour. I have only had a few whose “not urgent” really meant it wasn’t urgent. And unlike users at other levels in the company, they do not need to CC the boss to make it quite uncomfortable for you.

Lots of lawful evil from the attorneys. Never give details, have to play 20 questions because they refuse to answer direct questions and claim it’s always been an issue. Support staff, they are mostly neutral good but are greatly outnumbered.

Neutral Neutral for the most part, though there are a few of all of the others thrown into the mix. Overall not a bad group of users.

Imagine that. An attorney who won’t answer a straight question but demands that you do or better yet answers a question with a question. I have a son who some day will make a great attorney. I forbid him from exercising that talent in my house.

I have at least one of each.

Yeah, If I’m being completely honest, the donuts could sway me. Good-Chaotic might see their problems resolved quicker than most. It certainly wouldn’t hurt their case.
Good-Chaotic: I tried doing this and that, it might be worse now, here’s donuts.
Me: Well, I can certainly see why you would have tried this and that. Good effort!

I… don’t know which is the most common here per say. However I feel the need for a Chaotic Chaotic category… because…

If only more users had donuts, life would seem a lot better.

I have one user in particular who is a major PITA. However, she brings me chocolate on a regular basis, even when things are NOT broken.
EDIT: Just had a user complain she could not open a particular application on her desktop when double-clicking. I went to check it out, and it worked 5 times in a row. She asked what I did to fix it, when it was obvious I did nothing. I had her try it, and it again worked 5 times in a row.
Then the complaint changed from app not working, to “I received updates this morning and had to reboot.”
The life of an IT Manager (yes, I went because all my helpdesk guys were already on important calls…). Diplomacy is hard, sometimes, but very necessary. LOL
