Hey everyone. I’m into tabletop role-playing games, and in those games an important step in character creation is determining your alignment… are you going to play a very good, law-abiding paladin, a true neutral druid whose only loyalty is to nature, or a chaotic evil sorcerer who is willing to do anything at all for MORE MAGIC?

Of course, just like in life, those aren’t the only choices. Unlike life though, in role-playing games we can put the choices all into a simple chart form. I’ve seen alignment memes from other professions, but you know, since this is an IT site, I thought an alignment chart based on IT choices would be fun.

So, tell us what alignment you are!

See an extended version HERE.

Yet another version, based on suggestions from the comments can be found HERE.

SysAdmin Alignment chart HERE.

User Alignment chart HERE.

Note: I keep seeing this chart circulating on other sites, so wanted to repost to remind everyone that Spiceworks has the original, as well as sharing it with people who didn’t see it several years ago when it was first posted. I added a poll, and moved the other charts to different posts, so feel free to vote, and if you post it or see it elsewhere, remember to tell them where it came from!

Note 2: I noticed that the picture is really hard to read. It used to be hard, but on the new site, maybe due to a size change, the Lawful Good background was almost impossible to read (see the old version below if you like), so I redid the picture, trying to stick with the original colors as much as I could, but making it hopefully more legible.

Old Version

I’m Chaotic Good. Fear my anarchy!!!

Oh good, another alignment chart reinforcing my Chaotic Neutral alignment!

Somewhere between lawful good and neutral good, but with some triage to make sure priorities are straight.

I like it! I feel Neutral Evil far too much, lean more towards Chaotic Neutral though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel like Lawful Neutral belongs in Lawful Good’s spot, but only if a ticketing system is used. One of the alignments (I’m thinking Chaotic Good, but open to debate) should be “Fixes the issues in order of importance, based on their determination of importance.”

22 Spice ups

I fall under chaotic good. Or lawful evil, depends on the day.

Lawful good made sure to make the ticket first, but I was trying to go with making Lawful Neutral care about the rule above all. Obviously its a parody though… agree that tickets should be for everyone, which would actually go into the USER alignment chart, because a good user will write a ticket… oh, maybe lawful good teaches the user to write a ticket before working on the ticket?

Yeah, I could make the whole top line stress order of importance a little more, not just ticket/no ticket.

Controlled chaos (neutral) is my modus operandi.

Love this! So far, I seem to fall in between Lawful Good and Chaotic Neutral.

Neutral Good does not compute in my organization (as in asking a user to make a ticket)

Most need a shortcut they’ll never use. Some refuse outright. Many shall suffer my neglect for their resistance! Aha Ahahahahaa!

I like it, Chaotic Evil is definitely me  Why is this post in gaming incidentally?

11 Spice ups

I guess i would align with chaotic neutral good, I can track most of my jobs without a ticket, and will get to most issues in order that they came in, unless a true emergency has arisen. Otherwise I can be persuaded to help you sooner if you bring me bacon or cookies.

6 Spice ups

Brilliant.

4 Spice ups

If you run down the chaotic side of this list it is basically Normal day, great day, people I really don’t like.

9 Spice ups

I’ve done all of these except chaotic evil. It really just depends on my mood and if it’s a regular problem user.

8 Spice ups

Lawful good, yippee.

4 Spice ups

Sean suggested gaming, probably because the alignment meme originates with D&D?

if you watch outside xbox on youtube, the new alignment is good, evil, and money. Please redo the chart Su-Zan

Could always tag the Tabletop RPG group in this too.

Looks like I am Chaotic good at the moment but one day it would be nice to start ticketing once the chaos is wrangled (making progress). The only tickets I work off of now is when the parent company sends something down or when I need to escalate things to the parent company. Well also when the helpdesk sends over tickets, they live on metrics over there.

Since we’re all professionals, and therefore get paid for what we do, wouldn’t every alignment on here be money?
