We are in the process of cleaning up our server room (again) after some construction and equipment moves. I have a stack of switches that connects to our server rack via fiber. I need to move the server rack to its permanent position and that requires re-routing my fiber. I want to make sure I have the cabling safe and secure from damage, but will still need to be able to have plenty of slack in the event that I need to roll my rack out 4 feet or so. What would be a cost effective and safe manner to route my fiber cabling? I’ve included a picture of the route and of the back of my server rack.

Edit: The distances look off because I did a panoramic shot. Ignore that board at the “Ends Here” spot. That stuff won’t be there after tomorrow.

We have some short fiber runs in our data center as well, I don’t nessicarly see anything “wrong” per se with the proposed run but I would say that adding service loops on both sides of the runs has saved us more than once.

That’s the sort of thing I’m looking for. I’m also trying to determine the proper materials/raceways/etc that should be used.

You might want to consider mounting some cable trays either high up on the wall or above the suspended ceiling (if there is one). Something like:

Having it out in the open is sort of nice since you can see the cable and notice if one is about to kink, there’s room to coil up a few extra feet, etc.

I use wire looms (PET) over my fiber lines.
You buy it in a roll and it snaps over your wires.

I think combining these will do the trick! The price isn’t too bad and it would be easy to install.
