Sigh, we only work till 12pm tomorrow so not horrendous(normal Friday). Am off till the 3rd. But as I’m a temp i could have more time off its just i lose 6 days holiday alone for the christmas period.

thats a nice 17 days of work! im looking forward to having a break more than Christmas and New Year like…

i only lose 3 normaly, and would go back on the 3rd, but the factory is closed for the first week, due to a low work load. so i have to use 4 days holiday for that too.

That is nearly as annoying as one of the guys here being off since 15th Dec and returning 3rd Jan. The chocolates in his Christmas calendar he left behind may have “disappeared”.

To true… working full day friday then because my contract ends during the christmas break… Guess it’s a true Holiday :slight_smile:

just a shame that im using most of next years leave haha but im off on a rugby tour so needs must :slight_smile:

I normally keep about 5 days of my holidays for Christmas, but actually have to come in next week. Still, at least the office is closed until Thursday, so its only two days. Then I’m using four of my days to take the first week of January off.

Spare a thought for our American friends, who won’t get all the public holidays we get. (Dec 26/27/28 and Jan 2 here)

I love being off this time of year, just focusing on eating and drinking!

As I work in the food chain we only officially get Christmas day off. I’ve managed to get Boxing day off as well but I am working Christmas eve, with the other people in IT working Boxing day!

Boo for you lot who demand to be able to go food shopping whenever you want!

1 day, 8 hr, 39 min, and a handful of seconds until I’m off until Jan 4th.

Officially that is. Our office has a “tradition” of at the last possible moment “Magnanimously” granting us a half day off. Of course since they don’t do it until the last minute you can’t actually plan anything… so maybe… 1 day 4 hr 39 min…

Half day tomorrow, then off monday. work 27 - 29, then half day on the 30th. Then i will be off until the 10th.

First real vacation in a few years i am getting.

I get a 1/2 day on Friday for our Christmas party and then Monday. Could be worse I used to work at a gas station and had to work every holiday that ever existed so I won’t complain.

Hopefully not permanently :slight_smile: I too will get this coming Monday and the following off. Back when I worked in radio I expected to work every weekend and every holiday, just because. I say spare a though or two for those who work in 24/7/365 environments like my wife - she’s an RN and will be working through the holidays.

I get two days off, and I’ll probably find some sort of side-work to do then. We can’t all afford to do nothing on our days off.

It is funny however, that the non 12-month staff “Teachers” get 7 days off (And the summers, and the winter recess, tons of half days, etc). Nothing better than watching 98% of the staff take off when you have to come in!
