Morning All,
I have a well known issue with BUEX 2012 - and yes, I know that BUEX is a well known issue in and of itself - however that’s not my call and I need help with this one.
I used to look after the backups but it was passed to someone else and then someone else… etc etc, and it has stopped working. TBH it was a full time job just keeping it working anyway - but I’ve now been asked to look at it. Again.
We’re getting the old 0 bytes - 0 Avg Job Rate issue. We’re on SP4 - it was applied last week while I was on holiday. Whoever took it on has enabled the Checkpoint on all jobs - we don’t use failover servers, and we had this ages ago when I ran them. So I have removed the option - again, rebooted the server - again, but still getting the same error. The backup jobs are hanging, spending hours at 0 and I have to either restart the services or reboot the server to stop the jobs.
There is talk of a new backup solution but till then - maybe by the end of the Universe - this is what we have to work with.
I’ve been through it again and again - the jobs look fine, can’t see a problem (apart from the application itself).
Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?
Many thanks

All I could suggest is completely blitz it off your server and re-install it.
Do you have support with Symantec?
Nope - expired ages ago and they don’t want to renew with an alternative backup solution in the pipeline. I’d personally like to reboot the server off the carpark 2 stories below me!
Try creating a new backup job and see if its the same result. You said SP4 was recently installed, did you update agents on the servers being backed up? Those are the 2 places to start.
For whats its worth, we’re still held hostage by BUE 2012 as well.
Hi Johnathan - The agents weren’t deployed - I’m doing that manually today, did 2 yesterday as a test, can’t just reboot the finance servers or I’ll be shot. Tried creating a new job - one of the first things I did, no good.
To add to it dedupe is now getting a bit on the low side - still enough for the backups - and there are backup sets in there that are supposed to have expired in July 2015. Thought I’d cleared out the old junk. Job queue on hold waiting for crcontrol to show busy and pending as No. Both on Yes at the moment. I have the reg key in to allow removal of old sets. Doesn’t appear to work though - put it in around January.
