Thanks in advance for your time.

I have 5 different offices one on the east coast three on the west and one in Shanghai. Each office is brken down into different subnets. I don’t want to have it scanning the entire network every day do? I suppose the answer to that would be yes if I want to be as accurate as possiable. Is my network going to take a huge hit in performance if I have this running through everyday?

Would it be a bad idea to say scan a different subent each night of the week at 1am?

Basically I’d like to know what the best practice is out there for doing this. We want to be accurate as possiable but also not tie up any bandwith.

How many assets it total are we talking about?

Rule of thumb will be one RC for each Subnet, but more information is needed for accurate answer.

{"@type":"Person
yasaf
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/yasaf"}},{"@type":"Answer

Thanks for the speedy response Yasf. What is RC?

Right now I have over 1000 devices. This includes network gear, ip phones, servers, printers and workstations. I am thinking about just doing workstations and phones on a regular basis. The other gear we scan every so often since not alot of change is happening.

{"@type":"Person
johncuocci
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/johncuocci"}},{"@type":"Answer

Thanks Yasaf, I have the RC setup. So you would just have the run every day, like every 12hours on each subnet?

{"@type":"Person
johncuocci
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/johncuocci"}}]}}

RC is a remote collector (http://community.spiceworks.com/help/Remote_Collectors )
My suggestion is to install one on each subnet and have it send the data to your main installation.
It will work faster, and you will have to open only one port between the subnets.
Thanks Yasaf, I have the RC setup. So you would just have the run every day, like every 12hours on each subnet?
