I’ve been in IT for around 3.5 years so far doing the general 1st/2nd line helpdesk and mainly break/fix sort of things.

already got a whole host of cert’s but nothing network related, was meant to do network+ at the same time I did a+ but the exam got cancelled and I never bothered (that was about 3 years ago so can’t remember any of it now anyway)

would it be worth doing the network+ and CCNA/CCENT at the same time or what would you suggest?

Cheers guys

I am in the same boat. I would by-pass the network + and just go for the CCNA. I am using the Cisco packet tracer as an emulator, grabbed a book online, and have a small home lab from used machines (was pretty cheap from amazon, local crews selling old equipment, Craigslist, etc.).

Best way is to just start as well. I am pacing myself with all the other things I have to do (starting with an hour a day, every other day, and a couple hours over the weekends).

Certainly would recommend CCNA for you at this point seeing as you have the basics

Cheers guy

CCNA looks to be the better route then. i’ll have a look around for the emulator and stuff tonight when I’m back home

Agreed on CCNA

Liam (and Bucky), take a look at this link, for a few quid/bucks, you can use this in conjunction of any self-study guide - http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/779211-399-ccna-training-for-10?page=1#entry-4280923 - the deal ends on Feb 9th

Never mind Bucky, your post on that page is 2 above mine, so you beat me to it - lol
