I know there are already some posts about this - but thought I would ask my own as some are at least 2 years old - I have been looking into trying to get my CCNA Cert, is it worth the money you pay or is it not as good as it used to be? I’ve only been in IT for just over a year, so any advice would be invaluable, thanks in advance!

I’d suggest yes, but if you’re new to networking you might to look at Network+ first as there’s a lot of basics around ip-addresses/subnets/ports you may get drowned in doing this from the ccna curriculum

Thanks, I’ll definitely take a look at that!
If you plan to focus on networking, CCNA is definitely worth it. As Martin suggested, Network+ is a great starting point.
You can also break the CCNA into two tests and receive the CCENT certification first or you can take the two tests combined to get the CCNA.
For reference, if I am hiring for a networking position the CCNA or equivalent experience would be a requirement.

When you say Network+, do you mean this? Information Technology (IT) Certifications & Training | CompTIA Information Technology (IT) Certifications & Training | CompTIA
Any cert that you earn means earning power for you. If you pass and keep your CPEs up it cannot be taken away from you.The CCNA is the gold standards for networking but like others have suggested you may want to get the network + and a little more experience prior to tackling this cert.

I would skip the Network+ if I were you. The CCNA test covers nearly all of the Network+ topics. Remember the CCNA assumes you know nothing about networking.

Hey Kiergan - Just in case you’re still interested in pursuing a CCNA, I did some digging and we have some pretty good deals available if you’re wanting additional course support: https://www.udemy.com/topic/cisco-ccna/
Also, how big would you say your team is? We do have Udemy for Business plans available that offer affordable a team plan subscription for 5-20 employees or an enterprise plan for larger teams or your entire company. Might be worth talking to your employer about if they’re willing to invest for your education!
Hopefully, that helps!
