6 Spice ups

Looks like you got the error: 0x80070643. No idea what it means.

I didn’t get this specific error, but my upgrade from 1.1 did not work as well. I had to clear my Spiceworks folder in C:\program files\ and start clean after uninstalling the monitor.

I have deleted the spiceworks folder in program files removed anything in my appdata profile deleted all temp files and rebooted numerous times I did all this after uninstalling from the control panel

Try deleting the registry keys if they still exist. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Spiceworks/Network Monitor. Maybe deleting that folder will help.

Are you trying to upgrade an existing install? If so, here’s a cleanup script: http://1drv.ms/1zjXc2J

FWIW, I upgraded without any issues. Should I get the asbestos suit out?

It’s just not something that we put any significant testing into at this stage, as we often make breaking changes between betas. YMMV, but we strongly recommend a clean install. If you’re intent on living dangerously, at least back up your install folder.

That script fixed the issue. Thanks!!!

Hi Ezra,

How do you backup your install ?

I was just recommending that you zip up the install folder before trying the upgrade. Are you running an beta right now?

No, I’m Running version 1.2.00190 " I was just recommending that you zip up the install folder before trying the upgrade. Are you running an beta right now? " By “install folder” you mean “C:\Program Files\Spiceworks\Network Monitor” folder ?

That was the solution!

Thanks a lot!

Ah, OK. Would have been nice if y’all mentioned that a clean install was recommended in the email.

But, I can’t really blame you guys too much b/c I stopped reading when I got to “thresholds for individual devices” and clicked “Update now” as fast as I could!

I’ll clean install. Thanks for the update!

Hey Joel, you should only have to do a clean install if you’re running a beta. Let us know how the thresholds work out for you!

Running the script resolve the issue for me.

Thanks Ezra!
