I’ve recommended professormessor.com before - starting from scratch, it’s very easy to understand and follow his free videos (tad slow if you’re already experienced though =P).
Not sure where you’re up to, but I’ve found that targetting CompTIA certs have helped develop what I know, while staying in a generic-y middle ground so that I (hopefully) don’t lock myself in/out of any particular field too soon.
If you’d prefer reading material over video material, scour through proprofs.com - a bit messy but lots of info. Of course, if you have a few coins then I’d suggest trainsignal.
Hope that helps =)

Great resources listed by Mike above, and i think that narrowing down your scope would definitely help.
I like w3schools for web programming and am still teaching myself when i have time, and as far as windows development (Build desktop apps for Windows | Microsoft Learn) i’ve just started scouring there as well.

Start out with CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications. These are basic certifications that will make you much more attractive to the HR gatekeepers, and will let you try on a few hats while you figure out your path. Any of the popular books or online courses should be sufficient for studying.
If you can swing it, set up a server or two at home, with a decent router and switch, and start tinkering. Build a complex network there, and see what really grabs your interest. That will give you a good idea of where you should focus your energy. As they say, “Do what you love, the money will follow.”
This will also give you important troubleshooting skills, a better understanding of real world problems, and the ability to talk confidently about technology in interviews.
Once you get an idea of where you want to go with your career, start focusing on what certifications you’ll need, and what education you need to supplement your knowledge.
Good luck!

It’s been a few years (more than a few) since I started my career but I obviously think getting certification is a really good way to start your IT career. Here is another IT Pros Page on Facebook where you can get some answers to this question. I.T. Certifications
Good Luck !
