^The book or pdf version is very well worth the $25 Rene completes each topic with labs and video for each topic.

You may be able to find the pdf for free, but access to the complete site is worth it. I used for ccna and ccnp exam.

I would suggest CBT Nuggets, they have the following courses just focused on the current CCNA (Routing & Switching) exam:

As well as 2 on GNS3 to help you lab the topic whilst you study. I subscribe to CBT Nuggets and I truely believe it is money well spent, you have access to all their other topics as well and I often find myself looking at other subjects. Even if you only subscribe for a few months whilst you study, their videos are awesome and have helped me throught all the way to CCIE written, I wish they were readily availble when I first did the CCNA in 2003!

I posted yesterday about GNS3 having released some new video series, loads of them are free, some are $49, or $15 if you use the discound code BETA2015 Network Courses from GNS3

Let’s not forget Cybrary https://www.cybrary.it/ Free to register and watch, a new kd on the block, they also have a forum and loads of other things at their site.

My advice, don’t just watch videos and read, play, get Packet tracer, better still GNS3 (or real kit, GNS3 is more flexible) and play, and when you have finished learning and playing on your lab about a subject, play some more!

Seeing you are in Brazil. Couldn’t say much for local resources. Cisco does try to get their NetAcad out there, and may be available locally to you—

  • NetAcad is designed as a four part course, and most IT Pros would find the first half uncomplicated.

Self-study can work well if already have a basic familiarity with networking, switches, and routers. GNS3 is great, as Packet Tracer is not legitimately available outside of Cisco NetAcad.

Todd Lammle’s books tend to be the more accessible ones available—

Helps to use 2-3 reference sources, and complete each one 2-3 times. Classic areas people have issue in the test are on subnetting and ACLs, hence will want to be able to do those quickly without external aid…

Lammle’s book is awesome. Very easy to read it step by step. Also CBT Nuggets videos.

This is what I would do and recommend unless you have some experience. Do it in the 2 parts with ICND 1 and ICND2.

I used Cisco press book by Wendell Odem, first one was okay, the ICND 2 one seems to have many typos that make it a bit of a hard read at times.

For some things like VLSM, subnetting I highly recommend you go on youtube and look up dan’s courses and subnetting/VLSM. Also Chris Bryant has some good videos on youtube, Stormwinds and INE are also great choices. Cisco has some stuff too in their networking 101 videos. Kieth Barker is another good one, I think he is more focused on above CCNA though.

Spanning tree is also one of those I would suggest you look at videos for. INE has some awesome material on that. I’d suggest using vids like the ones by Chris Bryant for frame relay too as the DLCI stuff can be tough.

Big mistake. If you take the two exams you are in for a MINIMUM of 95 questions and just under 3 hours (potentially) in the exam room.

If you take just the CCNA it is a MAXIMUM of 55 questions and 90 minutes. Also the ICND2 question pool is pretty much identical to the CCNA so the degree of difficulty is identical.

As a former CCNA and CCNP tutor I have NEVER recommended the ICND1 and 2 to any of my candidates. Do the CCNA and get it over with.
