Hi there,

I am new and beginning my journey for networking. I have wanted to conjure up some certifications and wanted to begin with CCENT and CCNA (after acquiring my CCENT), but I do not know what materials would be best to start or what websites are the best for getting training?

What are some peoples opinions? I have read some threads on here and they all have a variety of things. I am looking to get my certifications soon! Thank you for looking into this post and I hope I can get some great feedback from this.

Check out ITPro.tv. Their training videos on CCENT are very good.

Copied my post from another discussion as i believe it applies here.

I used the following:

  1. CBT Nuggets

  2. CCNA Routing and Switching Study Guide Amazon.com

  3. Pearson exam prep

  4. Boson Exam Prep

  5. My lab which I bought on ebay.

Important to remember with old switches like the 2950’s and the

3550’s is they don’t have auto MDIX so you will need some cross-over

cables.

I would also consider GNS3, it is a bit of a pain in the butt to

setup. but youtube has plenty of help and CBT Nuggets has a GNS3 series

as well.

Hey Michael… getting started on your certification journey is definitely exciting and earning your CCNA is a great place to start.

We have a number or resources available for someone looking to prep for the ICND1 and ICND2 exams including exam walkthroughs, building hands-on labs, subnetting, troubleshooting, as well as the courses themselves.

If you’d like to check it all out, you can do so using our 7-day free trial with unlimited viewing.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions… Good luck!!

Thank you everyone for their feedback. This helps out and I’ll look into everyone’s suggestions!

Hi Michael!

How do you prefer to learn? Do you like instructor-led training and hands-on labs or do you prefer going at your own pace? I suggest checking out a few demos/trials to see what training fits your needs best.

The CCNA is a great certification to work on so if you want to check out a free 7-day trial I think it would be a great way to see if it would be a good fit. The ICND1 course is running live next week if you are interested in checking that out too!

Happy training!

Thank you for the information!
