Hi,
I have just installed SpiceWorks Network Monitoring Tool. When I add a server based on IP for “Online Check” on HTTP I get a connection timed out error after a few moments. When I try to connect to the server using telnet TCP 80 from the same server it works fine.
What is wrong?

Does the time out continually occur, or is it intermittent? Are you monitoring a large number of other devices or services?

Continually, it happened with first device. At this moment I only have 3 servers added.

Okay, thanks for the info. Is this the only box it’s happening with? Do any of the other servers fail the online check as well? Just trying to see if we should focus more on what could be causing the problem with that particular server or if there’s a more widespread problem.
It is for all servers, even the server where the monitoring tool has been installed on.

Okay, thanks. Can you post a screenshot of exactly how this appears in the app? You can mark out the hostnames of the servers before posting if you’d like.

Hmm, are these Windows servers? If so, how do things look if you try monitoring by adding them using WMI instead of trying to do an HTTP check?
