Using the csv import is very good, but have come across an issue that the import requires a serial number.
When you manually add a device, spiceworks auto generates a serial number of auto-xxxxx-xxxx etc.
Is it possible for spiceworks to generate the serial number in this way when importing?
Also, if that field is left out, the import will seem to go through but fails to upload/update. So I am assuming that the Serial Number field is required from my experience.

I just tested this in my install and I was able to import a CSV without specifying a serial number. In my install, Spiceworks took the name of the device and dropped it in as the serial number.
Are you currently running the latest version of Spiceworks (7.3.00042)? If not, go ahead and grab that from Spiceworks Inventory Software: Help & Support - Spiceworks. Then, install the update and copy the bulk_import.rb from the C:\Programs Files (x86)\pkgs\gems\spiceworks_7.3.00042 folder and place it in C:\Program Files (x86)\bin.
