So, back in September I got a call from Dell. They wanted to introduce themselves as our new account rep. I listened to their pitch (“let me tell you about these great new products Dell is offering…”) and then politely told them we had nothing we needed or wanted to purchase until next summer.
I received three more phone calls that month, all different people claiming to be our new Dell account rep, wanting to give me the same pitch.
Since then I’ve received at least one phone call every month from Dell. Lately I’ve just been hanging up the phone as soon as I hear the word “Dell.”
Every time I do speak with one, they are surprised that I’ve received similar calls. One person went so far as to blame Dell’s marketing department.
I know Dell makes good products, but if I want to buy something I’ll reach out to vendors.

What’s the problem, Dell?

Yeah, ok, so I walked right into that one…
I was really surprised how fast the first two posts came in response!
I’ve “fixed” the title of the post.

I have the same issue, only with Spectrum (Time Warner, Charter, whatever their name is this month). I must have around 12 “official” account reps by now, lol.

I understand. Trying telling them they are not on the approved vendor list. Explain the process is a “packet” that is available on your website for download. It must be completed in purple crayon, then notarized by a 3rd party international prince and mailed to your psychical address to the attention of Circular Filing Cabinet.

Can’t say I ever got a call from them but then again I’m an HP guy and I go all
when they call me ( usually something special is at hand).

I know another spicehead whom once got a pen from Priscilla@HP. It was shaped like a guy with a blue/white striped tie (among other things). Looked just like him and he proudly showed it to every user he saw that day…

He’ll approve it without problems

Used to get similar calls from HP, reportedly turned out to be a third party PR group.

For me better things happen when HP calls. Last call was ‘’ Hey Ed do you want to see the first Zbook X2 like 2 months prior to its release? ". Off course I said yes being addicted to HP gear
. When you visit them usually you get to sign an NDA before you can walk around with a guide. Last time I went there was no NDA for me and they said “Have fun, you know your way around the office
” . When I inquired for my NDA the country manager said “sssst no need for ya”. HP must love me

Forget the approval. I’m still waiting for the money he was supposed to so generously share with me…

My biggest issue with these types of calls, is it seems they have absolutely no tracking on who they call, and what their responses are. It just seems to waste everyone’s time.

I had to fire my solarwinds rep today because of this EXACT Issue. I told the lad that if he wanted me to switch to another product, just keep emailing me and calling me… I don’t think he quite got the picture b/c I kept getting calls and emails from this dude. He even went so far as to have his boss call me… UGH!!

Was just thinking about all the “Calling from XYZ” that were just a 3rd party trying to boost their own commission.
Last 2 impersonators I had talked with to get just enough of their contact info to turn them over to my actual reps.

Have you opted out?

Worked for me with catalogs, I used to get 4 or 5 with slightly different names, or companies I used to work for at home.

I had an issue with them for a couple of months, but with emails.
It started with a ‘new rep’ email from person A, then another one from person B, then another one claiming to be my rep’s ‘manager’, oddly enough the emails all contained the same information and pitch and I was emailed at least weekly, sometimes more than once per week. I told each of them no, had to go so far as to tell the last two that emailed me that Dell originally lost my business because of their poor quality and even more poor customer service (multiple times when getting replacement power supplies for desktop units we were sent the wrong part, then told we would have to cover the cost of shipping them back and the correct part would not be sent out until we did so). I had to be about as rude as I could be without resorting to invented new cuss words/combinations before they would stop emailing me.
Dell has now earned a spot on the black list, I have any email coming from Dell dropped at the spam filter for over 9 domains now.
Congrats Dell, you’ll never see a cent from any company I ever work for.

I have the same issue with Oracle. I have nothing to do with Oracle products and yet they call/mail me all the time.
