In my Windows 7 machine… 64 bit… i get to Device Manager and i can double click on the devices, but it will not let me edit or update any devices. There arent any tabs when i open the device. I have tried turning off UAC and im an Admin on several Accounts. I know im leaving out a ton of details so please ask away.

Any ideas?

Did you scan for Malware?

Stupid question, but are you going right-click → Properties or just trying to double-click them? Also, I agree with Jacob. Check for malware and/or viruses…I saw once where a virus had embedded itself in the TCP/IP protocol and nothing else…darndest thing to remove but I got it. Was very odd but sounds like a similar problem.

Thanks,

double click around the place where it should have tabs (the top or actually anywhere around the edge)

did this once … bugged me so bad…finally found the solution and will never forget it!

Hope this works for you too

Seen that before with Task Manager too…good call!

16lb sledgehammer. It fixes everything.

Lol - so I just noticed this post said it was for Device Manager however my fix I posted was for Task Manager

is this for all devices in device manager or just specific ones?

Sorry for giving a solution to a different problem… I will read the problem more clearly next time.
