I am having some issues with scans as of late. It seems like they aren’t really working. Spiceworks has been installed on this network for about 3 years now, and it seems that it is recently becoming more unreliable.
For instance, see attachment. This is my PC. It shows that it was last updated today, and is online (which it is,) but shows last scanned quite some time ago. This morning, I went into SW and told it to rescan the entire network. My PC still said this, so I went to my PC in SW and told it to rescan. And it still says what is shown.
I added a new computer today. About an hour after I added it to the network, I made sure it was on, and told SW to rescan the network. It still has not shown up in SW.
Some information has become unreliable as well. One device in particular got a new IP 5 days ago (DHCP is set at 7 days for that scope) and SW still shows the wrong IP on that device.
Any ideas?

And I also have some devices that have a ‘last updated’ time, but no ‘last scanned’ time.
We have been having issues also with this. Another issue we are having: I’m in the process of replacing 150 computers that are joined to the domain and in OU’s but when the new computers are put in place, they either don’t show up at all or if they do show up they are only listed in the workstation group not the OU they are in.

has anyone from SW been in touch about this?

Not with this one, but I do have another thread open which has been turned into a support ticket, but all the devices are still exhibiting this behavior. Guess I will open a ticket for this once the other is closed.

Were you able to get this resolved?

Nope. Still have devices in the group. I can even see recent info in the timeline. Today only, there are about 40 “updates to devices.” But they are still in the “Devices not scanned in 30 days”

interesting. I am having The same problems with a lot of my windows 7 64 bit computers. Have you had a chance to contact support on this issue?

Honestly, I was hoping and expecting one of them to see this thread.

It looks like the majority of the devices are Windows 7. Most of these devices have echo requests turned off. I am going to try this how-to to see if it will help with devices that have not been scanned in >30 days.

Bringing good news to the table. By enabling echo requests on domain devices, I have been able to update all of my windows 7 devices. I am going to push a gpo that will automate this process.

I think a lot of my issues now are duplicate devices. Even with the same IP, I have some duplicates that one shows “not scanned in 30 days” and another is scanned correctly. Maybe I’ll get some time to clean it up soon and see what happens.

Was there any progress on this - have found the reliability so bad now I worry about relying on it for anything like low HDD space or printer toners etc. The scan says it is working but just isn’t updating things.
