I have a wide area network and don’t want a single instance of Spiceworks to generate wan traffic during polling. Is there a way to have a primary Spiceworks host that collects data from other secondary Spiceworks probes at the remote sites for a single enterprise view?

2 Spice ups

Hi,

If you have remote sites installed and syncing with the central install, then it will be the remote sites that do the scanning while everything is collected on the Central site.

Thanks Jamie,

Are there any documents on how to go about setting up/designing/deploying the distributed topology for the Inventory and Help Desk components? Should these be on the same centralized server or on separate centralized servers?

Here is the documentation we have on this: https://community.spiceworks.com/support/inventory/docs/remote-sites

Basically, you would have stand alone servers with full Spiceworks installs acting as remote sites, scanning devices in, and sending that data to a central server.
