I love that you can request purchases of new hardware/software and the like in SpiceWorks, but it could be so much better. Are there any plans to add a customer workflow functionality? I would love to be able to configure, so that new purchase requests go through an approval process based on dollar amount, or by type, etc… This would save me the trouble of having to go in and manually change statuses. Instead approvers would get an Email with the details of the purchase and an option to approve or reject. From there, request would go on to next approver or would show as approved and be finalized.

This would be awesome!

As far as workflows go, I am not sure you will find what you want. But, there is a way to make this work and leave a paper trail. What you could do is put the details of what needs to be purchased and put that in the body of the ticket. Make sure you CC the approver. They can respond via e-mail so the approval / rejection is in writing. Then you would take that person off the CC list of the ticket and CC the next person. Make a new comment on the ticket to E-mail that person. If you get all the approvals, you could then CC Purchasing, and they would have all they needed to make the purchase for you. They could even blast an order confirmation back to you so you can enter a purchase and tie it to the ticket. That’s the only way I see it working right now. Because even if you added purchases to tickets that alerted the right folks, they won’t see the price when they get the alert that a purchase was added to the ticket.
