Hey Everyone, I am trying to assist a team of teachers in having access to both outlook and the ms suite of things as well as Google workspaces. I know this is a big no no but I thought I could set them up with unique mx records for their ms.domainname subdomain and keep their google workspaces on there primary domain. However, it would appear this isn’t possible with their DNS being hosted with Google domains. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks.

It sounds like you would be able to accomplish something workable if your domain provider allowed separate MX records for subdomains. I’m not so familiar with Google Domains though. They could consider migrating to a more flexible service.

As for the implementation, do a search for split delivery or dual deliveryel. There are settings in the a Admin Console under Gmail’s routing configuration that can accomplish what you’re looking for. Dual delivery sends each email to the Google mail server AND a second server using a rule.

In your case, you’ll likely set a rule that replaces the recipient’s domain name with the MS/Office 365 domain name. Then the email will also be sent to the same username at the MS server. If you go through Google’s documentation on dual delivery, you’ll find this pretty easy to accomplish.

Here is Google’s support article on dual delivery:

I did dual delivery as we moved internal teams one at a time to G-Suite. I believe this is the same link as above. It works ok, but as you do other things like Google grousp for email delivery, you can expect quirks if staff does not understand the implications
