I decided to add Remote Collectors for machines on separate subnets. I had created custom groups for those machines and now I’m see duplicate machines. When I view the machines via 'Settings-> Remote Collectors" I see no duplicates. Duplicates show up the custom group with the machines from the remote site saying offline, while the other entry that says Central Server is online.

If you scanned these devices previously from your now central/master Spiceworks instance, it will have added these devices to it’s local database. Now having scanned these PCs from Remote Collectors, new additional devices will have been added to the inventory as they are technically not the same, these new entries are from the RCs and carry a Site ID which is how they differ.

The answer is to delete the old redundant inventory items that were scanned and added to the local master database as these will no longer be updated as they are now being scanned remotely.

This is not too hard if you use the Bulk Delete option in the inventory.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

I have similar issues, deleting these is fine for some (newer) devices but other (older) devices have history for Helpdesk Tickets, Software Install/Removal which I would rather not lose.

I’ve also noticed that laptops based in our Remote Office that regularly spend time at Head Office (during our scan window) end up duplicated as well.

Any suggestions other than using a reserved IP outside of our normal scanned range or manually deleting these when they are found?

{"@type":"Person
eddiechapman5402
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/eddiechapman5402"}},{"@type":"Answer

No, sorry.

Only if these laptops will get every time the same IP, you could make a scan exclusion for these IP addresses at the scanning spiceworks machine you want.

Somebody may correct me.

{"@type":"Person
bytesnake
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/bytesnake"}},{"@type":"Answer
