We are running Exchange 2003 and I use the Exchange health widget to monitor mailbox size.

After having certain users clean out their mailboxes and veryifying it through system manger, the widget still reports the original size or at least an incorrect one. One example in the widget shows a mailbox size of 2.5GB but system manager shows 969MB. I love spiceworks but I’m going to go with the system manager size on this one.

The widget has been reporting this size for 3 weeks and has been refreshed several times so I’m not sure why the difference.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

I noticed the same problem a while back, I ran the cleanup attendant and it fixed itself, exchange may have somewhere where it keeps the WMI information that spiceworks polls and doesn’t update it until then. Not sure though, give it a shot.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Have you run the exchange system attendant cleanup since then?

{"@type":"Person
jaguar
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/jaguar"}},{"@type":"Answer

No I haven’t but these messages were either completely deleted or were archived to offline storage. We have a retention period of 7 days for permanently deleted messages but that time that has long passed.

{"@type":"Person
richardholtzclaw5910
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/richardholtzclaw5910"}},{"@type":"Answer

Probably true. Actually I was wrong in my response before because actually I do run the cleanup every Sunday morning but it is set to generate report only. I am reluctant to set hard limits on mailboxes due to the angry mob that would form outside my office.

{"@type":"Person
richardholtzclaw5910
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/richardholtzclaw5910"}},{"@type":"Answer

Heh, my CIO told me our VP wants to set a retention limit of 6 months. AKA he wants us to forcably delete any emails older than 6 months. I fear for my life the day he actually tells us to implement it.

{"@type":"Person
jaguar
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/jaguar"}},{"@type":"Answer

You have the list of the mailboxes where the size is > 1.5Go

Get-MailboxStatistics | Where {$.TotalItemSize -gt 1610612736} | Select DisplayName,@{n=“taille du dossier”;expression={$.TotalItemSize.Value.toMB()}}|

Have fun

{"@type":"Person
floriancione
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/floriancione"}}]}}
