Technically, it’s not “free” to keep, it’s free to access - which is why I stopped checking Packt’s Free Learning page, they do have some titles that actually are “free” but the daily books are only available for access until midnight of the day they become available.

Moral of the story - don’t think it’ll be there tomorrow if you need to look up something. It actually might be well worth the $9.99 a month subscription.

I’ve had no issues going back and reading previous ones. I can even download copies of them.
