Hi all,

I’m looking to replace a few self-signed certificates, and price-wise the GoDaddy certificates seem to be exceptionally good value. I’ve also checked the trusted root CAs on my Windows 7 machine and noticed that GoDaddy is listed. Are there any reasons why I should spend a lot more and go with someone else?

Also, does anyone know how good compatibility is with other devices such as iOS / Android ones?

Thanks

We use GoDaddy for quite a few of our certs, very good.

Nice admin GUI and their support team is very helpful too.

Used them for a few eCommerce websites with no problem. Easy to create, easy to install. Renewal is a snap. GoDaddy support is very good in this area if you need assistance.

I have used go daddy in the past for wildcard SSL certs. Cheap, easy to use and never had a problem.

At the moment the only reason I’ve found is (a) do you have a bunch of accounts with them already (convenience) and (b) how crappy/annoying is their user interface?

We’ve been using Comodo SSL certificates from Namecheap ($8/year) without problems, and its convenient since we use them to purchase our domain names.

We have been using GoDaddy certs for years, no issues at all.

There are links out there where you can get GoDaddy certs for $6 a year, just Google discount GoDaddy ssl certificates.

godaddy will work fine for you. It is a root provider even if you go with a different cheaper 3rd party they will likely be using godaddy or one of the other root providers if you bother to follow the SSL chain back to its source.

SSL is a standard so it doesn’t really matter who you go with for a basic domain. as long as they are considered trusted by the common web browsers. otherwise you will end up with the same cert warnings you would get using a self signed cert.

The device involved is irrelevant in the case of SSL certs so yes it will work with IOS and Android

GoDaddy has been working for us without issues, and renewing cert. awhile back was painless as well. As far as I could tell when I was researching, the only reason to go with a more expensive certificate was if you wanted to throw a “name brand” certificate’s logo onto an e-commerce site. We weren’t doing e-commerce, so there was no need to pay extra to try to impress people.

Their web management tools work well and their prices are good, too. They’ve worked great for us, at least. We recently purchased a multi-domain SSL cert for our web services and haven’t had a problem.

For work I buy all SSL certs from GoDaddy, never had a problem apart from their website having the occasional hiccup.

Support by phone has been good and the automated emails during the SSL verification process make buying and replacing certificates a snap. Good value with discount codes and a lot cheaper then other trusted providers.

Used GoDaddy for a few years, never had any problems. The website is fairly easy to use. Haven’t had to use their telephone support.

We switched to GoDaddy a few years back. Couldn’t be happier with them. They have some of the lowest prices and great customer support.

I’ve used GoDaddy’s SSL Certificates multiple times when setting up MDM environments and they’ve been great. Very affordable and never ran into any issues.

The MDM environments I was setting up were compatible with iOS & Android.

Been using them for years. Their website can be a pain, but overall quite happy.

Have a few, installed no trouble at all. Also very good price.

I use GoDaddy SSL certs as well. No problems detected. Why pay more?

+1 for godaddy

we’ve used them for pretty much all our certs and they’re easy to set up

+1 for GoDaddy: good price & great support.

If you are using a colleague’s credit card for buying, make sure you explain what you are buying. Out Head Accountant hauled me into his office & asked me “what the hell i had been buying” on his card as a charge was listed to “GoDaddy” & he was under the impression that it was “something nasty!!”

I’ve been using them for 2 years now and no problems, good support and price too. The only thing is their discount and promotional emails, I am getting one almost every day.
