This program looks awesome. I read about it and it has a ton of great reviews. Being free and clientless I really can’t find another reason to choose another program. Right now I have about 70ish computers (says active directory, a few servers out of AD though), and I am doing EVERYTHING by hand. IT support on excel sheet, all by hand. Inventory I need to find every piece of equipment and record all this info sighs. Please I really need help…

Anyway, I run inventory, and it looks like it just stops immediately. It says I have 12 workstations, 3 servers, and 3 other device and like 1 or 2 of a few more groups. That is completely wrong. I used a program that used a client and it found everything. I mean even machines without clients. So I think I am just doing something wrong with Spiceworks.

Please if someone could give me some tips, instructions, something, I will gladly provide info and follow along. I would like to present them this tool by Friday! I can’t spend to much time behind the scenes… Thanks!

So you are all on a domain based network correct? If that’s the case make sure that you have the Windows and Management Instrumentation pack is installed on every workstation you are trying to scan. It’s a Windows Component that needs to be installed in order for Spiceworks as well as other management tools to work properly. Hope this helps!

Hmm, ok I am checking now. I remember hearing about it in the videos, more then once I believe. I didn’t think anything of it because I thought it was something that was on by default. I am testing it on my workstation now… I will let you know if I come up with anything.
