We are just getting started with KnowBe4 and I would like to implement the Phish Alert Button (PAB), allowing users to send suspicious emails to our response team (aka me). Does anyone have a recommended process for testing the suspicious emails?

There really is no “testing” - you simply apply what you’ve learned to each email to determine if it is legitimate or not based on the information that you have. I do not evaluate every email submitted to PAB as the majority are legit, i.e not malicious but likely junk mail. It seems end users use the PAB as a dumping ground for email that 1. is not important to them and 2. don’t want to take the time to investigate its legitimacy. It’s just easier to pass it along to someone else that might be monitoring PAB.

Yea, you can’t really “test.” But if you have PhishER you can do analysis on any emails that come in, look at headers, domains, URLs embedded in the email, etc.

Thank you both for your responses. Sounds basically what I do now but I am guessing it will get worse at least for a while when I give them an easy way to forward suspicious email. I will check out PhishER. Not sure if that was part of our package.

You’ve really got to determine that for yourself if it a bad email or not. If you’ve got doubts you can check with the community

Just here to say great name, from a native Minnesotan

And if you ever have questions about PAB, PhishER or anything else KnowBe4, let me know and I’ll get you the help you need!

Thanks Melissa. Is PhishER sold separately? I am waiting to hear back from our reseller as well.

Do you have a customer success manager? When you started using their service you’re supposed to have a relationship with your CSM that can answer some basic questions.

I purchased the training/phishing campaign through our local networking provider since they originally introduced us the KnowBe4. Most communication has been through them up to this point.

Gotcha. PhishER is sold separately so you would need to go through your reseller. I just messaged you to get more details, we can help on our end to get you that info ASAP.
