For the last couple of years I’ve just been using a spare military slingpack that fits my laptop and a few other items like my ifixit toolkit, a mouse, notepad, chargers for the laptop, phone, etc…

So nothing crazy. I’m just sick of using a military bag and would like to use a normal people backpack for this stuff. I did a little bit of browsing on Amazon and was immediately overwhelmed with the amount of options out there. I like the slimmer backpacks and would prefer it to NOT be super bulky.

What are you guys using? Any recommendations?

Hey Brandon, you could try one of our Ogio Eaton backpacks. Looks kind of like this. Just message me your mailing address if you do.

I’ve been carrying a Kelty backpack for almost 10 years now. I have taken it on trips, hiking/camping, used it for my schooling and work, etc. It has held up really well and has proven to be a trusted friend.

Yes, these are pretty good too.

I’ve had a Targus bag that I’ve been using for four years and it’s worked great.

I have one of these. Mobile ViP Checkpoint-Friendly 15.6" Laptop Backpack | Targus

I love it. Very sleek looking and professional. I like how it has the laptop sling so when I put it down it doesnt just smash the laptop\tablet down, it has a slight cushioning affect. Also convenient for air travel the way it opens, the section that is for splitting it open to air travel, I keep regular papers in there unless Im traveling on a flight. Its not really meant to be used as a pocket, but it works well for paper because it doesnt allow any pressure from other objects to bend or push on the paper.

I still want to get one of the backpacks or messenger bags with solar panel built in, or at least a built in power bank.

I love my swiss gear backpack for carrying a lot of stuff, but they’re awfully bulky.

I have an older version of ThinkGeek’s Bag of Holding . I’ve carried 2 laptops and some daily stuff for when I’ve gone to conferences/training, and though a bit cumbersome with all that, it was fairly comfortable to carry a good portion of the day.

It’s out of stock right now, but may be worth keeping an eye on for availability.

I have the OGIO Renegade RSS and they stand by their warranty. No Questions asked. Mine got a small tear by one of the zippers and they sent me a brand new one and a prepaid return shipping label.

I bought a Targus when I went back to school. The extra cost was worth it. It held my laptop and all my books and survived the daily round trips on the motorcycle. Ten years later and my youngest is still using it as an overnight bag.

I have a Targus that I’ve been using for 16-17 years and it’s been great. Has gotten a little worn and discolored in places but it’s had a long rough life so I’m just glad it’s still holding up.

I have been wanting to get a MOS Blackpack for a while. But I think they have tons of other good backpacks.

I always recommend Targus brand. The extra cost is worth the extra padding and pockets and quality workmanship.

I always check for padding all around the laptop compartment, especially the bottom.

Why?

What is the first thing people do with their bags when they get somewhere?

Yup.

Drop the bag onto the floor.

Perfect to cut on pollution and protect from the “Polar Vortex”…

Clearly somebody didn’t read the first post :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. I’m not buying anything with Ranger in the title

  2. I am looking to get away from using my military bags

I’ve been using the same Eddie Bauer backpack that I picked up at their store 20 years ago. I’m having a hard time finding a suitable replacement as well. That OGIO pack looks nice. I do like their golf bags…
