Hey guys. I’ve downloaded and installed the network monitor first, and then tried to install the inventory. It asks me for my username and password and I put that in. It keeps telling me that it’s invalid. I’ve changed it 3 times this morning and it still will not let me launch the inventory. What should I do to fix this password issue?

Thanks,

John

Are you using the ID and password you used to log into the community? If not, try that please.

I am.

Does the server you are running Spiceworks Inventory on have access to the internet? It needs connectivity to establish the account.

I have the network one installed and working. I downloaded the Inventory one and when I launch it, I get this address in my browser: http://localhost/pro_users/login

I can’t log in. I’ve changed that password 3 times, but it will still not let me log in. And yes, it has internet. Thanks again for your suggestions Lauren.

Check out this snip-it from Spiceworks located here: https://community.spiceworks.com/help/Registration_And_Installation

You might be running across the error: Could Not Connect to the Spiceworks Community. If so, it’s likely because of proxy or web filters controlling the outbound traffic from their network.

In order to effectively troubleshoot this, you will need to add a rule to your firewall or proxy to whitelist all traffic from your network to *.spiceworks.com. We have several different services on our domain that the Spiceworks application needs to access in order to function properly.

After whitelisting the domain, please restart Spiceworks using the system tray icon which will initiate the registration process. After Spiceworks has restarted select the Community link in the Navbar to see if verification process succeeded.

You can test for connectivity by telneting to the Community servers from a command prompt on your Spiceworks computer. These examples show how to telnet to the Community:

telnet community.spiceworks.com 80

telnet frontend.spiceworks.com 443

Thank you Lauren. I’ll try that.

If you have them both installed on the same server, this is not supported and what you are describing is one such known issue.

I didn’t know that. Thank you Rod. That makes sense why it wouldn’t work then.
