Hello all, I am new to Spiceworks and IT in general. I just started my job and we have no inventory system, but we really need one. Some things we’d like to get going are:

Barcodes: Attaching a barcode to each item in the inventory that can somehow be stored within the information of the item.

Manually entering an inventory item. Could not find where to do this. (If at all possible.)

Some sort of check in/check out system. We have phones that need to be inventoried and they are constantly checked out to employees. It would be nice to be able to do this through spice works, which already has an inventory system.

Basically, the company has never taken inventory of its devices and all I have so far is what Spiceworks has scanned within the network (which has errors due to no open ports, etc.)

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

First off, from your inventory screen the top right ish area is a “New Asset” button for devices that Spiceworks cannot see. Additionally you can assign an “Owner” but not sure how well that will work in your case. I am using a custom access DB for Headsets and other user equipment, just built off of an inventory management template. (think like library books.)

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

From what I’ve seen so far, there’s unfortunately no where to create a ‘barcode’ or ‘QRcode’ from Spiceworks, I mean you can always create a code from a 3rd party and link the URL to the inventoried item?

This is indeed a feature that I’d like as well. We’re using Lansweeper in unison with Spiceworks and annoyingly enough, it has this feature where Spiceworks doesn’t seem to.%uFEFF

{"@type":"Person
shaunadams
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/shaunadams"}},{"@type":"Answer

You could use the helpdesk tickets as a check in/out.

{"@type":"Person
anthony7445
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/anthony7445"}}]}}
