I was wondering if anyone here has created an addon or update for spiceworks which would allow for a way to inventory smaller items such as chargers, flash drives etc and also manipulate the number of those inventoried items based on a ticket request for one of those items. I need a way to receive a ticket for items that we give out, and have spiceworks record who has the item and the inventory left of it. Is this even possible?

I know spiceworks is set up to scan and record its inventories items by which ones have connected to spiceworks or not. All I need to be able to do is add all of our devices and hardware and even possible software so it can be a full inventory system that can be changed via request.

I’ve seen people barcode items like that to give them a unique number. You can then set the owner in Spiceworks and any that have not been handed out set to STOCK or similar. You can then run a report to show who has what.

And you can manually add items to the inventory, it doesn’t have to be added by a scan.

Makes sense but then everything needs an individual barcode no matter how cheap etc. I need to be able to receive a ticket from a user for something in inventory and then have a way to assign that item to them so its no longer a “stock” item.

The inventory system we currently have is a piece of paper sign off sheet for everything but computers and software. MY bosses don’t want something too difficult so anything integrated into the ticketing system would really help the process. Even if I have to add barcode numbers to items itd be easier to keep track of stuff.

If you want to track it then it needs a unique identifier, simple as that. It didn’t have to be a barcode, it could just be a simple number or alpha numeric system. Once it’s in the inventory you can then reference it in a ticket. You can then do a report to show who has what inventory items, who has been issued >1 of an item and so on.

If you don’t want to track who has what, perhaps a spreadsheet would be better.
