After updating to Network Monitor Beta 6 it seems that my switches are no longer listed. I have checked the watchlist settings and nothing is listed. But when I try to add the switches I get an error that “Device already exists.”
Also, since installing Beta 6 my Spiceworks desktop does not seem to be running - the tray icon is there but it will not launch in the browser. The event log shows a timeout waiting for the spiceworks service. When I manually try to start the spiceworks service I get a 1053 error - service did not respond to the start request. There are four Spiceworks services running for the network monitor (App Server, Event Processor, Monitoring, and Redis.) Spiceworks and Network Monitor are setup on different ports.
I have deleted most of the Network monitor logs because they keep filling up the system.

Hi Ken, unfortunately we don’t support upgrading between the betas. Can you try uninstalling the Monitor, reboot when it asks you to, and reinstall to see if that fixes your issue? If not I’ll walk you through a manual cleanup.
When you say the logs are filling your system, can you give details about how large they are and how long it takes to become too big?
Thanks, Stephen

Thanks Stephen.
I did actually upgrade by removing and re-installing - sorry for the confusion.
I will have to watch the logs. After it filled the first time I have been deleting them weekly to avoid issues.

When you uninstall, you should also delete the folder in Program Files to wipe any remnants. I had that problem.

I uninstalled the Network Monitor, did a reboot, but my Spiceworks would still not run so I did the same with it (a repair option would be nice.)
I did not realize that I would lose all of my Spiceworks settings
I have been using it for years.
Anyhow, I reinstalled both and they are both now running.
Thanks.
Ken, I misunderstood the part where you said that Spiceworks desktop application was broken. That shouldn’t happen with the network monitor and to my knowledge you’re the first to report that problem.
Please contact support ASAP and they can try to help you recover your lost installation config. support@spiceworks.com
You should have a backup of your DB in the installation folder unless you deleted it.

I did restore the Spiceworks data and db folders but had the same issue where it would not start. So I went to an older copy of the folders and everything seems to be working again.
