I’m looking into setting up our company’s policy and procedures as far as IT goes. anyone know of some great templates that happen to be free?

SANS Institute is usually where I start http://www.sans.org/ , completely free and lots of templates and ideas.

I checked them out before and their Internet Usage Policy is the only one that applies to me. For major Policies such as the overall Company Information System Usage which would include Internet, Email, Access to company files, General acceptable use of company computer equipment, and the like which I will have each user sign. Then there will be auxiliary policies which I can just send in an email and have the users acknowledge them and accept their use. Does this make sense to you guys?

Just a suggestion… instead of sending it out to the users, pass it along to HR. Have HR insert it into the manual for new hires as well as distribute it to the existing employees… I would also post it on the intranet, again, once HR signs off on it…

Great idea. That will take some of the work off me.

I was going to get the TechRepublic Pro subscription for $100/yr but I’ve read where there are free legal contract templates online but I’d prefer if we didn’t have to spend the money because it will most likely come out of my pocket and not the company.
