Do you have any applicable work experience (other than the helpdesk?)

What did you do there? How long did you do that?

II’d start looking for entry level jobs (back to helpdesk…) to get more experience.

It really depends on your local job market and/or if you are willing to relocate.

The more important question is not what you can expect to be looking for, but more of what kind of work do you want to do? I would almost think that you might be trending towards a career in networking if you are planning on pursuing a CCNA. If that’s the case, the start looking for a networking technician or admin position.

You have options, you just need to know which direction you want to travel.

thanks alot guys. I am looking for a career in the network engineering field, I know i have a way to go but at least you guys are helping me out. I really appreciate that.

A+

NET+

SEC+

all three great certs. all three different possible career paths.

A+: help desk. Computer tech, 1,2,3. wait some time, get some skills. then go for SERVER+. MCSA.

get good at scripting that another +…

NET+: u need to get entry help desk and so on. even then no one will hire you as a network tech, unless u got CCNA.

SEC+ whole other animal?

don’t worry so much about ccna, don’t worry so much about anything. just get the job and have fun, learn every day.

get noticed then worry two, three years down, what do you want. you might want management? you might come up with an innovation no one at your office has come up with.

certs nor education make the IT man alone. its his or her experience and knowledge that is true value.

certs help get you in. you keep your self in and push deeper.

good luck to you.

A+ does not lead to a career path. A+ gets you hired into a job at best, at best buy.

Net+, although not a sub for the CCNA, is a vendor non-specific certification allowing him to understand concepts and get a big picture of what he’s working on.

Since he stated his goals are towards networking engineering, I don’t see how MCSA or Server+ will lend themselves towards that…
