I’m stuck. Can’t figure out why the keyboard and mousepad on our Probook 650G1 stopped working.

I tried almost everything I could find:

None of the above works.

But, mouse and keyboard works fine in BIOS.

And they work when using a Linux live dvd.

What can this be? Any suggestions?

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

" - Reinstalling drivers manually"

This sticks out to me like a sore thumb, are they the original drivers or updated drivers from HP?

Sounds to me like an actual hardware issue as opposed to Drivers etc etc.

I’ve had similar issues with Lenovo and the only option was to replace the entire keyboard. Consider this option as well.

{"@type":"Person
mattfaust7129
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/mattfaust7129"}},{"@type":"Answer

sorry, my English is not that good, but what I meant: downloaded the drivers provided on the HP website, extracted them, and in device manager choosed update driver → select driver → browse and selected the downloaded driver.

{"@type":"Person
laurensdewaard
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/laurensdewaard"}},{"@type":"Answer

Does the keyboard and trackpad work in the bios? If not, then it may be a hardware problem.

{"@type":"Person
kaosaephan
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/kaosaephan"}},{"@type":"Answer

do you have another unit you can pull the keyboard out of - sounds like a damaged keyboard. Probably caused by an unreported spill, it can cause corrosion on the contacts for the keys or even at the controller.

{"@type":"Person
stopthenoise
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/stopthenoise"}},{"@type":"Answer

May be a bad windows update. Although if you installed windows 7 as well and it didn’t work, may be a driver issue.
